Craftsman Bolt Out sets

Two different sets, both should be made in USA. On sale for $20 usually $40. These are good bolt out extractors and I believe are the same as Irwin. I think one set has case the other doesn't.

I got these a couple of years ago, they seam to be very good. I think that I may be missing one. but really hate to buy a full set just to replace one. Rich

Awesome sets. Removed a broken lug nut like butter.

I bought the set about a month ago at $19.99 each. I stop at a different sears two weeks ago. Online says still at $19 , store tag said $34. It scanned $14! Used my pts and got it for $8. The one with case still scanned full price. Can never have to many and USA made still.

Pretty sure these used to go for $10/set on Craftsman Club sales, but it's probably been a year since I've seen them that low. They do work great and are made in the USA. Craftsman also sells low profile ones and impact grade ones. The impact ones have been sitting around $38 for the full set.

Edit: The impact ones are currently $65 and the low profile are $31. Both contain 10 sizes.

Yep. I picked up both of my sets for $10 a piece.

I've used them several times over the years. Not something you'll use everyday, but it's handy to have when you need it.

It's $32 if you buy them both at once, instead of $40.

They may be different sets, tho if they're not I'll save the almost $10...

Nice find for $32 if it's the same quality.

The 5 piece expansion set says it uses 1/2" drive where the 10 piece kit says they are all 3/8".

It's not "low profile" that matters, but rather pass thru design. The first sets I posted use a 3/8" drive ratchet or open end wrench/socket, while the second "low profile" set utilize's an open end wrench or socket. In other words if you have a stuck nut on a long stud, you can slide the low profile extractor over the stud and still remove the bolt. The first sets would obviously bottom out before reaching the nut. They're both nice sets to have.

You don't hammer these on. They're a twist style that grips the bolt differently than a socket. You use them with a ratchet or wrench.

I have an older set of these. They have the pass thru design that I guess they're now calling the low profile.

You can put a socket over the low profile and use it with a ratchet if you want so I'd say the 10 piece low profile set for $31 would be the way to go if someone (like me) only wanted one set.

They also have the 10 piece sets in new condition at the sears outlet for $20-24.

Someone convince me that I even need these. I'm missing one piece from my set so I guess I've used it at least once. LOL

I have more trouble with broken bolt heads than I do with a rounded head. If a bolt head is rounded I can almost always get a set of vise grips or pipe wrench on it. I guess they'd be useful for something in a tight spot that you can't get a wrench into.
