Hello guys. Spent the last couple months reading the past threads and have to say y'all have a great site here. Already has cost me more than I'm willing to share with the wife......

Got this box on CL and can even find a picture of an original one. I plan on restoring back to original and it appears to have a dark green original paint job. Any help saying how old or have a pic of an original?

Thanks,
RyanImageUploadedByTapatalk1327536148.152000.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1327536165.336626.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1327536180.844188.jpg

Badge says Mid 50's I found one similar in the 54 Craftsman Tools Catalog.

Green? Maybe. most of the boxes I've seen are Hammertone Gray, which Rustoleum was as close a match as to make no difference on my 56 roller (I feathered the interior, new to old paint and could see NO diff..)

Yeah I just restored my fathers old one that was that style. I think this one is a little older. I used that hammer paint and it worked great. This one has a tray that is a little different as well.

Unless someone has painted over it previously it has almost a forest green paint on it now.

Oh and this one has a metal handle vs a plastic one that my pops had. My reasoning for thinking its an earlier model.

My father has a similar box dating from the mid-sixties. The logo is different. I would like to restore it. The latches are busted. Does anyone have a good source for replacement latches?

Btw, I think they made that style of box for ages with different logos and trays. Recently, I saw old stock on the shelf at my local store.

Look on the bottom where the paint is worn, and/or pay attention when you start stripping it. Yt's likely someone painted it. I've never see a stock Craftsman in Forest green.

This style of box is very common. Find a cheap one on ebay or in a second hand store or pawn shop for parts.
