Been saving up for a HF box and seen this post up today. Anyone familiar with this one and know what it's worth? He's asking $200 or best. Not sure if i should make an offer or keep saving.

As long as all the drawers work, that is a fair/good price IMHO. Not the best running down the street bragging price, but nothing to be ashamed of either. I like that drawer layout as it gives you lots of space for a 27" wide box.

Fair price for the box. The HF is ok also but having both Id go with the Craftsmans IF that top is a deep one not 12" but 16-18". The HF is nice but fills up fast and you will spend twice the money.

It looks like the top box may be less deep than mine. My top box is 16 deep and pushed all the way back it's just shy of 2'' from the front of the cab. The roll cab is good, I like the 9 drawers. The cab IMO would be worth it, and later he could upgrade the top box to a 16d for under 180.00 like I did. Happy with mine. :)

Based on the size of the CRAFTSMAN emblem on those boxes, as well as the drawer set-up, I'm thinking that they were sold in the very early 1990's and were made by Waterloo here in the USA. The boxes use standard friction drawer slides and are actually quite stout and well made. I have a very similar set-up that I purchased in 1990 and use it to this day. The slides are buttery smooth, don't have any of that Quiet-Glide pastic junk on them, the paint finish is excellent. You can comfortably get about 50 pounds in each drawer without it becomming difficult to open and close. I use Boeshield on the slides and they've never given me any problems. $200 is a really good deal on those boxes.

I'd pay $200 for that stack, and I am a serious tightwad! Not a penny more though and I would try to get it for $100, nicely, without offending the seller. ;)

Edited, make sure you bring $200 cash but put $100 in one pocket and $5's,10's&20's in the other to negotiate. Run, don't walk or wait if you need a good box.

good find for a bottom box, top box kinda ***** imo because it is the 12" deep version. Definitely worth $150-200 imo. Maybe he'll separate and you can get the bottom for $100-125 and wait for a better top box?

Yep, I've got that same roller box. Bought it new in 1994, and it's great. Not a huge box or anything, but I like having all the drawers. I'd try and get it for $150-175, but $200 is a pretty fair price for that combo in good condition.

Thanks guys. Right now anything is better than the big *** plastic carry around and crates I have everything piled in. I need organization! Wanted the 44" HF, but space limits me to the 26". I seen this and figured it'd suit my needs, but i'm not thrilled with the new cman stuff so wan't sure how quality this might be. i emailed him. Waiting a response!

It is a solid box. The early 90's sounds right. It should be all friction slide on the drawers. Will you be able to stand in the drawers? No, but it will provide good single layer tool storage. If you take care of it, I bet you could sell it down the road and recoup your initial investment, maybe more depending on what you do to it. Remember with a new box as soon as it leaves the floor you are loosing value.

To each their own, but to me that is an ideal tool box for general DIY. Small drawers to organize small things. Lots of thin drawers for single layer tools to prevent stacking, then a few deeper drawers at the bottom for the bulky stuff.
