This topic might have come up before but did sears stop printing their Craftsman catalog?

The reason I ask is because I went into two Sears stores and I was told they stopped printing the Craftsman Catalog. I have a horrible time trying to navigate the computer on the Sears web-site.

Any one else hear different?

My stores down here still stock the 2010-2011 Craftsman Tool catalog that says on the back good until April 30th, 2011 but I've not seen a newer one that. All the staff still refer to it as the current tool catalog.

If you can't find one, I'll pick up a couple and drop one in the mail to ya.

My guess is what Sears is currently selling and stocking and co-selling is changing so quick that by the time a catalog went to print, it would likely be obsolete til all things tools at Sears calms down.

LMK.

Sears sends one to the house 1 time every year. How up to date it is who knows but it gives you somewhat of an idea on what is out there and available.

I was told the same thing at my Sears, that the tool catalog is not going to be made any more. The store said that you have to use the website to browse for tools. Have you ever used their website? Its terrible, what a joke for such a large company to have such a bad website grrrrrr.

The catalog I have is good through Feb. 29, 2012. Join the Craftsman Club (it's free) and they'll send you new catalogs when they come out. I get 2 or 3 a year as they make changes.

Just a hunch but my guess is Sears might be leaning itself off of the tool department. They don't really sell anything beyond sockets, wrenches, and ratchets at my local Sears as Harbor Freight sells the lions share of more sophisticated tools.

When I think "tools" I think Harbor Freight these days, NOT Sears.

I hate to say it, but I would almost welcome Sears going to all import stuff but lowering the prices. Keep it at Harbor Freight level and people will come back to the stores.

Has anyone received a Sears Craftsman Catalog recently, or do any of your home town stores have any copies? I keep asking my local Sears and I get so many different answers that I am still in the dark.

My best guess is that they have done away with their tool catalogs but maybe someone can shed more light on this matter.

If they quit printing the Craftsman catalog, that will be another nail in their coffin. Does anyone in their corporate management team have any common sense as to what the working man wants ????

seems to be getting common to not have printed catalogs these days (not just sears), to save cash  i hate looking at catalogs online though, and pdf ones are just as bad

Will likely lose them sales, particularly form those that aren't in the stores often and don't want to/cant/wont look at there website.. (which is a mess, how they have survived so long these days with that site idk)

I got a full-line Sears Tool Catalog (not "Craftsman") last fall, and a Christmas tool catalog in December. For both, I had to spend some time navigating the website to find a request form.
Once the forms were completed, however, the catalogs arrived quickly. Maybe I'm missing something or maybe I'm remembering wrong, but they seem to be lacking somehow. This phenomenon isn't unique to Sears.
It's like print catalogs are not a "list of every item we have for sale" any more and are now more like "pretty pictures of some of the stuff we sell," making it useless for planning, shopping, marking, dreaming, listing, etc.

I just ordered the "annual tool catalog" from the Sears website. No date specified but the virtual catalog is still the 2011-2012 version. It says 2-3 weeks for delivery.

To be honest I don't really care if I get a Craftsman catalog or not as the last catalog I received didn't specify COO like they used to and a majority of their hand tools are now manufactured off shore anyway.

So that raises the question how do I get a Snap-On catalog? Mine is 4 or 5 years old.

They are a very poorly run company. I will say there are several Sears by me and two of them are well stocked with tools and both of them have one or two decent employees. There is a scratch and dent Sears store near me and they sell most things that a regular Sears does well I had a hand full of tools and a shirt. I was told at both registers that they could and would not ring up each item at one register and I had to wait in line at both registers. I put all my items back, told them that I would never spend another dollar in that store and I hope they enjoy their future of 2 years of vacation paid for by the tax payers of our country when this location closes.

I spent almost 10K in Sears last year, I am intentially spending very little with them now.

From what I was told a year ago at the store print catalogs are going away. I had to go online to order 2011-2012 and printed on the back it says "order thru february 29,2012" Have not recieved another and have never seen a catalog in a store since the previous catalog. Same kind of thing for Craftsman Club. Use to get the print fliers several times a year, then a few years ago it was hit and miss even with re-registering on the Craftsman Club website and calling them. Was told the fliers where all going online and would be emailed to members. Same thing as with the catalogs, a few emailed Craftsman Club fliers and then nothing for past year or more. I'm starting to be over Craftsman like many here, in fact now when I need something I look at Amazon, Tooltopia, etc before Sears/Craftsman. In fact today I purchased my first non-Craftsman ratchet...a Snap-On FLF80 from the classified's here at GJ , so I'll see where this leads

Who knows?
Used to be able to pick up one at both the full size and smaller local stores, now there saying no more, makes it hard to plan for the future if you can't even see all the product, picked up a catalog from both the Snap-On and Cornwell trucks, nice tools but my wallet prefers Craftsman. Went to buy some gloves form Craftsman the other day on the back it says "Made in Viet'Nam" !! Kinda P*ssed me off, My Grandfather fought in Viet'Nam, There's no way I'm gonna buy that.

Someone wanna snap a quick phone pic of the cover so we all know what the current C'man tool catalog looks like?

Sears website is a nightmare as best and all I saw and did was click on the catalog request, fill in info and hope for the best.

I;m curious as to what they are putting in the dead tree catalogs.

TIA.

Just clicked on the link to put in for a new catalog and a few hours later one showed up in my mailbox. Talk about quick service! :lol_hitti

Sadly.. there isnt a lot of stuff in there I was impressed with. One thing that caught my eye was this.

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00932002000P?prdNo=1&blockNo=1&blockType=G1

They have a couple different pairs of pliers like that. Im not gonna rush out and buy them but I wouldnt mind trying them out....

I got mine when I opened the PO box today, I chuckled lightly to myself. I quickly flipped through it and I see that the boxes are back to the front of the catalog again.

Me too, got mine in the mail on Tuesday. Alot of gimmicky junk in it though. It also looks like they are offering the RP line wrenches again, but only in a large set.

+1 ^

I sure wished they would list/sell individual sockets, ratchets, wrenches, screwdrivers. etc. individually like they used to.

Noticed the same thing about the pro screwdrivers but found them in the new open stock catalog. By the way, how did you get the catalog delivered? I did not get the choice of that catalog from the order a catalog link a few posts back. I could only do a virtual or PDF version of the catalogs.

From what I see, there isn't a 2012 open stock catalog available yet.
The 2012 can be viewed online....slowly...., but you can't download it.
If you order the new catalog, you will get last years catalog.
I was also trying to aquire the "Craftsman Lawnmower and Craftsman Tractors catalogs for my Craftsman Catalog DVDs. It gets so frustrating.
I do have every Craftsman catalog, and every craftsman product from every Sears "Big Book from 1927 - 2009. I have all the catalogs for 2010 and 2011, except for the not to be found lawn mower and tractor catalogs, and will add them as I have time. I just hate to hunt down the once available catalogs.
