Saw this today and was wondering if it was an option branded by craftsman, sold by sears and roebuck, or an aftermarket product made for circulars in general and not necessarily for craftsman.

Here is the auction, but to be clear I have nothing to do with the listing.

I've not seen such an attachment in the old Craftsman power tool catalogs, but I'll be the first to admit there is still a lot I don't know.

Seems to rank right up there with the mini circular saw attachment for Craftsman corded drills.

Good gosh, so many "you'll shoot your eye out kid" people around here...

Good bet it is a Prazi, very popular for cutting large beams. And like any power tool knowing what you are doing, and how to properly use the tool is crucial...

that attachment is newer than the saw
it is a seperate item that can be used on most circular saws but mostly aimed at the worm drive units
it is known as a 'beam saw' and is one of the cheapest ways to cut beams in the field fairly quickly

I worked building agricultural buildings for a few summers when I was younger, lots of 4x4 and larger posts and beams in use and frequently out where there was no power available. We used a chainsaw and never really saw a need for the beam cutter type of add ons...just kinda seems like a solution in search of a problem to me.

based off it having bumper spikes on it I believe the intent was to use it exactly like a chainsaw rather than like a Prazi beam cutter.

Not saying it couldn't be a safe tool, just that when the zombies are coming and you run out of birdshot, that might come in handy....as long as they don't go tripping over your extension cord.
