I would check this link on your account before you buy anything from Sears:

Deal Center

I have 9 offers on mine, including an Earn 25% in Points the next time you shop offer.

As others have noted, it doesn't apply to clearance items, but it is good to check none the less. There is usually a save $10 off $50 in tools as well.

The first time I checked, I only had 1 coupon, but ever since I used that first one, there have been 9 much better deals there since. Usually 15%+ off various categories.

The kit is supposed to come with item # 19986 which is the 1/2" composite impact wrench. Is this what you received or something else?

I received the Compact composite gun witch is #19986. The item list says it should be #19864 and if you look at the image on sears it also shows gun #19864 not #19986.

They no longer sell #19864 but that is the gun listed and shown on sears that should be in the kit.

I see the difference. If you click on "click here to see complete tool list (64k)" it shows # 19864, but if you click on Data Sheet 1 it shows # 19986. That is the problem. Looks like Data Sheet 1 was updated 10/09 and the other was 01/07. So "data sheet 1" is the accurate up to date one.

Gotcha they send out the wrong sheet with the set then. Do you know if the #19986 is a re-branded CP gun? they look just alike.

I have 7 of the 10 sets. I took the time to check them against the list (more time consuming than you think). I found nothing missing.

It definitely does take some time to go through. One of my sets was missing a crowsfoot wrench, so it is worth going through them and confirming everything is there. I don't think mistakes are terribly common though.

Bought that large impact set. It was missing the 1/2" universal. Called craftsman and they are sending me one (going to take 7-10 business days). Hoping they will send me the USA version and not the Chinese version.

The impact socket set now shows $519.88 but there are none left to ship and none showing within 300 miles of my location so i called my local Sears store and they were able to order it for me and honor the closeout price.

Anyone know how long these closeout prices are good for? Or will they remain at these prices until they are all gone? Thanks

Closeout typically means they are selling off what they have and the exact sets won't be coming back.

I started buying these at the end of June. Seems like I paid about $150 or so more for each set than what people got them for who bought in the last week or two, but nothing I've bought shows as being available to the Denver area right now. I didn't think of trying to call my local Sears. I still want the 198 piece set. It was available until 2 days ago for shipping to my state. I'm gonna call Sears right meow and see if I can still get it.

I did get the impact set, paid $650 to my door. I'm happy with what I paid overall, but man, if you got it even cheaper, that just ROCKS!!!

I watched these sets, even after the last price drop saw them still available, and still hesitated, and now am I ever kicking myself. I have 7 of the 10 sets already, but I would love to double up on the 106 piece set, and fill out one last set. The auto specialty and impact sets don't interest me, so there's really only one set left for me to get, but it's really going to nag at me now that it's no longer available.

Anyone else disappointed to see these sets closed out? (except, of course, for the great pricing while being closed out).

I really want the 198 pc set too. Let me know if you find anything out. I've tried several stores seeing if they could order one with no avail.

Ok so I called the sears 800 # (800-549-4505) and they transferred me to the "Craftsman Department", and the lady on the phone said I could place a "Catalogue Order" for the 198-piece set. I almost bought the set 2 days ago, and hesitated overnight. By next morning not available.

So I ended up buying most of what I wanted from it individually. There was a 28-piece Punch and Chisel set available on Sears website until like 10 minutes ago. So I asked the lady about it and I think she found it, again as a "catalogue item" whatever that means. She said "since it's not in stock, it's not on sale, but I can give you 10% off". It's normally $79.99, and with the 10% discount + tax I have placed the "catalogue backorder" for about $74.00 shipped to my home. Should be 7-10 days. Still don't have the e-mail confirmation, and I have no idea what the hell the difference between a "catalogue item" and an "in stock" item is. She barely understood what I was asking so we'll see if I actually ordered a chisel set and if I get them. But try calling the 800 # (or the Craftsman number, not sure where they forwarded my call to) and see what price they quote you on the 198 piece set!

I am MAJORLY dissappointed to see all of these Craftsman tools move to china. These very well may be the last Craftsman tools I ever buy. I am young and just getting started. I've spent a couple grand maybe the last couple months buying these sets up. Like you seasoned vets, I probably have tens of thousands in tool purchases ahead of me, so these are FAR from the last tools I will buy, but, very likely, the last Craftsman tools I buy.

Yeah dude that is freakin' awesome ridiculous! There's always that tinge of buyers remorse...but I've been watching this stuff for a long time...once it hit a certain point I knew I was risking missing out if I kept waiting for it to fall further. Someone always pays more and someone always pays less right? Funny how I agonize for days or weeks over $100 bucks on a tool purchase but can never seem to remember what exactly the hundreds were spent on after a night at the bar/strip :pimpflash

Anyone have an 89 piece set that wants to trade it for another? The following are still available for store pickup in some places:
77 pc. Heavy-Duty Mechanics Tool Set
83 pc. Fully Polished Ratcheting Tool Set
106 pc. Advanced Professional Tool Set
189 pc. Specialized Essentials Professional Tool Set

They're OOS in my area, but available in my brother's zip code. I'm thinking of having him get me one set, and then the 89 piece set is the last one I need, unavailable anywhere. If someone has the 89 piece set and wants something else, I'd be willing to get one of the above listed sets for trade +/- cost difference and shipping.
