Craftsman Club Days (56K warning)

No matter what I do, I can never seem to get notification of these sales. They offer an email signup...I signup but never get any notices. They have a mailing list...I signup but never get any flyers. I don't go to the store enough to check up for sales. I usually buy something when I need it, which is not the most economical way. What gives?

What does everyone else do to keep up on these dates?

Are you kidding me?? I've been a member since the beginning, too. I think I got 1 or 2 flyers. Maybe you should be the designated sale poster guy.

Half the time I go into the store and ask the lady if there is a sale going on... usual response is "You just missed it." Great... then I spend $100+ on tools with no discount.

Good luck.

I thought I've tried that before, but anyway I tried it again. The guy said he saw problems on my account about flyer mailing problems. He couldn't specify what type of problems they were, but he said sometime it has to do with the post office. He's sending me a new calendar with "coupons" for my trouble.

Looks like there is a sale going on now until the 14th. Time to buy those Pro ratchets!

Thanks for your help.

Yeah, Im getting the prybar set this week, decided not to go tonight. The pro ratchets arnt on sale though, I was disappointed, and with the way they are selling, probably wont be for a long time, so I think I might just get the proto fine tooth because that wont go onsale, and that should hold me over until I get a coupon or something.

Oh yeah, why dont you just sign up for a new account?

I've never got a flyer either (been a member for over a year) called the number they said they would fix it, never did so I gave up and just called sears every couple weeks to find out when the next one was if I needed something.

BE PERSISTANT! Call Cman again and again. Eventually they will get it right.

Yeah, pro ratchets are not on sale. Bummer... I would've liked to try them. I got enough ratchets, though that i really cannot justify them unless they go on sale and I can guarantee that my wife will not find out about them.

Just got back from Sears a little while ago... found out about the ratchets.

But I bought those prybars that Jim was talking about for $20.

I've never seen the pro ratchets on sale, nor even offered on CC days. The 10% off all hand tools is a thing of the past, so finding things you want on sale are a harder find now. Some people say it's the K-mart merger that are making all these incentives disappear. The 2006 calendar has no coupons! They are getting cheap.

I bought the same ones, and the longer one for the regular price of $24.99. I used to remember when Craftsman Club Days meant ALL tools were 10% off.

We used to go to a smaller Sears store that specialized in tools & hardware. Since the merger, they moved into the K-Mart across the street, but left 60%-70% of the tools behind. Very dissappointing.

I do receive a flyer for every event (been a member since '93) and get 3-4 catalogs each year.

Yeah, the $45 impact socket set does look like a good deal. Plus I do need another, longer air hose for $12.50. And of course the beer bottle opener for $5 is a must have.

I signed up about a year ago and I get all the mailers and e-mails, but I have not made any purchases yet. How do you get the club price at the store? Is there a card or number that you're supposed to receive and give to the cashier?

Thanks,
Mike

Sound like you're in a similar boat....

You're SUPPOSED to get a card in the mail which you would give to the cashier for her to swipe.

Something is definitely messed up with their system...not sure why some are affected and others are not.

I just called the 800 number and the rep provided me with my 16 digit number. She said they will issue me another card in 6 to 8 weeks. So, looks like I'm good to go.

You can use the club days discount online as well as at the store.

Seems you now get better deals online but then you have to pay shipping.

I too miss all the good deals that were offered. I bought a very nice ball bearing cheat and roll around for something like $250 off it was a crazy deal. They still have the set I bought but its never been priced that low again, not even close! Many other really good deal are no longer around.

Buy online and pick up at store at your leisure. I do it all the time. no shipping charges. I am within 16 miles or less of 3 different Sears stores. I check which one has it in stock and use that for the pick up store. I have taken up to 2 weeks to pick up the items. Also have one of the small, locally owned Sears brand stores 5 miles away, but they have to have the item in stock. You can't buy it online and get it at that store.

I used to get the flyers religiously until I moved last year. Since then I've called 3 times and no flyers still. I just called and the lady said she'll 'force the mail out'. I asked what that means and she said something about using the 3rd party mail or whatever...sigh!

Question I have is, does the Cman club days happen at the same time throughout the country or at different dates ? If they're at the same time maybe one of you lucky guys can tell the rest of us when the sale is on.

Russell, I am guessing by the number of replies to this thread that the Craftsman Club Saver Days sale is nationwide. I do not know if Canadians are having the same sale.

Fwiw, my flyer states the sale is Jan 8 thru 14, is 16 pages long and has a 10" portable table saw for $379 on the cover. I live in Iowa. How about the rest of you? Same flyer?

I sent an e-mail to Craftsman Club asking them if a rep. could sign on here to explain membership and answer any questions we may have.

The stores don't even understand the Craftsman Club Membership near me. Just got back from Sear's.

The pry bars were in stock but I didn't get them as they have hard plastic handles which are like others I have where the handles have shattered or chipped ( not just because I beat them with a hammer  ) They do have the 3 piece set in the Professional line which have much better handles. I will get those when they go on sale.

The deep sockets are the deal of the century at $44.99 ( were $89.99). The metric was in stock and I bought them. I ordered the standard for in store pickup as they were out of stock to save on the shipping which would have been over $7 because of the weight.

The employee's didn't even know how to get the Club price and I had to tell them to scan the card. They also were confused when I wanted to buy the out of stock item and get in store pickup. No wonder business's in the country are in trouble.

My very large Sear's is also discontinuing carrying impact sockets. We are in a county with 1,339,641 people and nobody buys impact sockets ? Could it be because you can't even find them when your looking for them ? Just maybe :eyecrazy:

Unfortunately you have to get the Club flier as nothing in store gets marked to identify Club discounted items.

330 Scott,
any chance you can scan the catalog in?

As soon as I start receiving the catalog again (if ever, I just moved) I'll scan them in and post them up for all to see, provided it's not against any copyright laws.

Ed I wouldnt doubt it...armstrong has laser etched sockets that look identical to craftsman but the size font is a bit different.

RedRacer, I dont recall the pro line of prybars ever going on sale, just like the pro line of screwdrivers and pliers, so if you need them you might as well get them now. Im getting the cheaper ones because I know they are made by mayhew, and the handle probably is covered udner warranty

Yeah, Craftsman Club is a mess.... i got a catalog last year, a calendar this year, but have never gotten a card or a sale flyer.

Sears/Craftsman bugs me the same way that domestic car manufacturers bug me, though... even if something is on sale when you buy it, you always get the feeling that if you waited a week you would have gotten a better sale price. And if you ever have to buy something at full whack, man, you feel like you're getting screwed to the wall, even if the nearest competitor costs 20% more.

Apparently they're having a 3-day sale this weekend not related to the CC (i'm on their email distribution list, which actually works), and there are some decent tool deals... i picked up an 83-pc mechanic set to carry in the car for $50... you can't really beat that for a lifetime-guaranteed, US-made tool set.

Sorry Ryan. I just turned my 'puter on for the first time in a couple of days. My scanner is junk so any flyer scans would probably be worthless.

On Thursday I did pick up the std impact socket set, 50' air hose & the pry bars. Not a bad deal for $80.

Now about that three day sale this weekend. Hmmm, might have to trot back over to the store.

Btw, I did check out the cabinet that wythors has in his garage and I must say that it appears to be a very nice unit. Four shelves plus five smaller shelves in each door. It is currently 10% off the $290 retail price but not in my budget right now. Definitely worth keeping an eye on.
