Hey guys, I have a 33 gal 6hp Craftsman compressor that keeps going through purge valves. They work great for 5-6 times then they start to leak and don't allow the compressor to build psi. It seems the rubber o ring on the valve deteriorates which causes it to leak. Does anyone else have the same problem or know of a permanent fix, I've been through 3 valves already and now need a fourth. Thanks.

are you talking about the saftey pop off valve or the tank drain? If its the saftey valve, then just get a higher psi one.

Do you mean the tank water drain? Is it a manual drain or automatic?
If it is indeed the original manual drain that you are referring to, then it sounds like you are tightening it up way too much. In other words, "Lighten up, Francis!"

Its the valve that drains the left over air from the tank when you're done using it. It is manual, I just tighten it until air stops coming out. As it ages I have to progressively tighten it more.
