I know allot of you guys have Craftsman compressors so I thought I'd throw this up. I received a recall notice today for one of my compressors. Check out the recall notice and see if it applies to you.

aargh. mine is listed. thanks for the heads up.
Hopefully the repair kit is something easy.
I think the others just had to replace a plastic cover with a couple screws

got it in the mail three weeks ago. i called and said they will send the replacement part. still havent gotten it. they said its the cover over the motor. the motor can heat up the plactic cover and start a fire.
thought i'd tell you cause the re-call doesnt say why.

The end cap on mine broke one day when I was using it. I was using air tools and realized the compressor should be running but it wasnt. I found the end cap mounting tab was broken and had tilted away from the motor. The end cap is made of plastic so I figured it just broke from the vibration. I did a repair on it and its been working fine since then. The end cap holds the startup capacitor and it mates with a set of contacts under the end cap. Now I see how this can cause a fire. I figured mine was an isolated failure but apparently not.
