craftsman compressor

Hi All,

I saw a 70's craftsman air compressor for sale here and was wondering if it will work as a general compressor. It is listed as 1hp, twin cyl. @ 12 gal. and is on wheels. Apparently it was set up as a paint sprayer (it says so on the side of the tank) from the factory. Assuming the tank is good-how well will run air tools, like impact guns and ratchet (hobby use). I know it won't run a blasting cabinet but my little pancake compressor is starting to take forever to fill up.

The paint sprayer compressors have a lower PSI limit than air tool ones (100psi max I think).

It will likely be OK with impacts / air ratchet but might lack the power that you'd get with 120-130+ PSI.

Can you rebuild your pancake?

My pancake is one of the newer Porter Cable units from HD, so not sure it is worth it. It works but it seems to take quite awhile to build pressure.
