I want to purchase some open stock wrenches to complete my set, everything I have is USA made and I would like to stick with that. MY local sears does not have the best stock and I need a few pieces they don't carry. Since I cant inspect them if I buy from Sears/Craftsman.com

Are open stock RP wrenches still made in the US? Also I need a easy to read 18mm spark plug socket (50728) to complete that set as well. the website has a picture of one with 'Made in USA' etched on it but I don't know if that has any real indication of COO anymore.

You can always give it a shot and return it at the store if they're not...

I can't help with exactly what you're asking, but in all of the Sears I've been in nearly all of the open stock was USA-made (the flare nut wrenches were the only ones I saw not, the USA-ones went on closeout cheap a few months back). I'd be willing to bet that you will get USA-made stuff since open stock moves so slow, but I can't say with any certainty!

I'm sure the open stock wrenches are now Chinese.

But, the open stock wrenches move very, very slowly. All the open stock wrenches at my local store are still USA made, because no one ever buys them. So, if you order them online I'd guess there's a good chance you'll get an older USA made example.

We have two Sears stores with a good amount of USA sockets/etc. left, if you post the sizes here and I get there anytime soon I'll take a peek for you.

I need two 15/16 6pt & 1 1/8 12pt combination wrenches and I will have a compete set. Never had a use for them but I would like a complete USA set. I was able to grab a compete set of US flare nut wrenches locally.

Don't bet on ordering online and getting nos us made. I picked up a few open stock and had to dig behind the chinese wrenches to get to the ones that said us. If they are starting to get slim on shelves they are probably even slimmer in a warehouse.

Ace Hardware carries open stock sockets and wrenches. All their open stock is USA at my local store. The selection just isn't as big as Sears.

I bought several larger size Craftsman USA wrenches on Ebay because they gave the COO. They were reasonably priced as well.

HarryEpstein may have some too. They show the COO.

I haven't seen open stock 6 point wrenches in a store for a looong time. You'll have to order online and gamble with those. There's always ebay. :dunno:

I checked HarryEpstein and they show only 1 Craftsman wrench. It was USA though.

I've ordered ~12 open stock wrenches from sears in the last month. All USA made (had Forged in USA stamped on them). To be fair, they were all larger ones that probably move even slower than regular sizes. All open stock in store are USA too (same with sockets). You've probably got a good chance, and if not, just return.

I have a bunch (maybe 10 of each) of new 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2"-drive, US-made RP ratchets if anyone is interested. They all came out of sets I bought years ago whose sockets have been sold. PM me if you're interested.

I put in an order online, I hope I get US made ones.

I hate returning things to the store, I need to exchange a 25mm 12pt combo wrench so I'll wait for these to show and make one trip.

Use their "return in 5" feature. Fill out all the forms online, bring in the paperwork, they take the items, and give you a confirmation of refund receipt. Truly does take 5 minutes or less.
