There are a lot of these torque wrenches still out there and giving good service. I've had mine since new and it's working fine, as far as I can tell.

Here's a scanned copy of the original operating instructions for the Sears Best Craftsman DigiTork™ micro-adjusting torque wrench for the record. Perhaps this will be useful to those who end up with one of these down the road and want to know a bit about it. The care and maintenance instructions on p 7 may be the most useful part.

You posted instructions for craftsman digitork torque wrench. I have the same model. Do you know where the calibration screw or knob is located on the wrench? Instructions say to take it back to Sears. . . duh. I can do it myself if I can find that adjuster.

Did you ever figure it out? I'm in the same boat with mine.

Is it out of calibration or just assumed due to age it possibly is? I bought mine in 1981 and still spot on perfect after 41yrs.

Nice old instructions and useful to post them here for anyone who may search for them. :)
However, I beg to differ in opinion with 'Important suggestion' no. 1 on page 5. I found this out years ago the hard, costly, way with damaged engine castings which I had torqued to the recommended settings.
Information is widely available that lubricant has a huge affect on clamping force from a threaded fastener and the torque required..
Like this:
LubricantTorque Reduction
(%)
Graphite50 - 55
White Grease35 - 45
SAE 30 oil35 - 45
SAE 40 oil30 - 40
No lube0

Here you go, @tanacross -- I've updated post #1 to put back the original images. Somehow the original gallery of my online images got lost -- no idea there.

I just broke mine last weekend:cry:
Torqued a lower control arm to 129, it snapped and on the floor I went. Had it almost 40 yrs. Bought it when I rebuilt my engine. Of course repair parts are no longer available from Craftsman.
