Craftsman DP Vise?

I have a chance to pick up two of these at $20 each... Brand new, never used.

They are the apparent older style, US manufactured and without the mounting slots/tabs... Which is how I prefer my DP vises. I usually "freehand" and if needed I nudge em up against a bolt in the table.

I am under the impression these were Palmgren Manufactured for Sears.

A photo I found on eBay of the same vise, for $50+:

Anyone able to offer any insight?
Good deal, bad deal, great deal, avoid?

I'm not hurting for another vise, but I'd hate to let a good tool slip away...

If you are in need of drill press vises I'd grab them. Those style vises are handy for all sorts of small work too. Just realize you will need toe clamps to secure them to the table if desired. I'd buy at least one of them.

I have a couple different vices I use, and the one like you "pictured" can be used on it's side for certain situations which I've found handy.

For 20 each its a great deal.

I've got (older ) craftsman DP vises, and some are palmgren and some are Stanley. I'd lean to those being Stanley; I've never seen a Palmgren that style.

Did you buy them at sears or get them from some one else?

No sir, I got a guy I do fabrication one-offs for who said he'd found them in his stash... He said he thinks they were picked up around 1995.

They are noticeably different than Sears current models from what I've seen...

I searched around online... The 351 manufacturer code was "Colovos Company"... Therefore it is a Palmgren manufactured vise.
