Craftsman Drawer Conversion?

Is it possible to convert a standard 26" Ball Bearing Drawer to Griplatch Drawers on a Craftsman Box? I really cannot stand the detents on my box, as they are incredibly stiff. Only the heavy drawers are relatively easy to overcome the detent without slamming the drawers shut.

also, the replacement parts would make it cost prohibitive
you can sell what you have and buy another box

also you could pull the drawers and ease off the detents a bit

That's what I figured, and I cannot seem to locate replacement detents that are softer. Maybe I'll hunt on Ebay for a solution.

Are your detents those plastic ones in the middle on the back of the drawers? If yes, remove them and double stick (use mirror tape) some magnets on the back of the tool box behind each drawer, shim as needed, you'll love the difference. If it's those plastic ones actually on the drawer slides they'll "work in" after a little use and feel a lot better.

take a file or some sandpaper to the ones you have to knock them down a bit
also you can try taking one sides off and see how that feels

The detents in a toolbox hold the drawer closed to prevent unwanted opening. Some boxes like the grip latch or Snap On's Lock and Roll forego the detent and have a latch mechanism to hold the drawers closed.

I removed one on each side, and took a sliver off the remaining one on each drawer. It helps A LOT.

are they dry? a drop of grease on them helps also. it also does not damage or alter the box. if you break or alter the detents and do not like the outcome you will have to buy new detents and start over.

Well I pulled out the detents on one side and it kind of makes a difference. Are these detents the same as the Accuride ones? I have seen in some older posts that they make a softer durometer/ compound detent and you can get them for free from accuride? Also I am unable to get the picture to post on the post image function.
