I just got a 70s Sears/Craftsman tool chest. It needs work and I want to restore it. There are big dings and gouges on some of the aluminum trim pieces on a few of the drawer pulls. Are these replaceable? I wouldn't know where I could get replacements or if it were even possible. Thanks in advance.

I am looking for this trim also! Did you find a source? Thank you!

If you guys are talking about the aluminum trim that came on the 60/70's red and grey boxes, I found a site about 5 years ago that still sold that trim. Can't remember the name, but it was a Craftsman tool site. I bought seveal new pieces for about $4 each.

I emailed Craftsman and still waiting for a reply. I did a search and found a couple of trim pieces on sears website but marked as "discontinued". I don't even know if they will fit on the older Craftsman toolboxes. Last correspondence I heard from customer service was that my inquiry was forwarded to the appropriate department.

It may be but I cannot tell from the diagram. Mine is a Craftsman Rolling Mechanics Tool Box Patent No. 3393951 Made in USA W 5 84. I just need one 24" piece of trim and one of the retainers for the sliding "apron" at the bottom is broken. I am wondering if I can just find something similar and fabricate it!

1984 may still have been while Waterloo made the boxes for Craftsman. They also made workbenches that used the same drawers, but the compartment access for those were swinging doors.

Unfortunately, Waterloo is now gone, another victim of offshoring. It is too bad that no one associated with them took up the opportunity to start a "mom & pop" business supplying parts out of their garage!

I believe “Waterloo” has been producing boxes in the same building continuously. Most recently under the Stanley umbrella after the 2017 acquisition. They do use slides manufactured off shore. A success story for Sedalia, Missouri.

That's the exact style that I need and inquring about. Fingers crossed, hopefully they can point me in the right direction for replacements.
