I found this Craftsman Drill Press 103.23130 on FBMP. Purchased it on April 3rd 2021. Drove about four hours one way from Cincinnati, Ohio to Berman, Indiana to see it. Needless to say I was drawn to this Drill Press after spending hours reading the Epic Post from FrankLee "Craftsman Drill Post". After scouring the CL and FBMP for months I finally found this one. The pictures posted on FBMP showed it was well taken care of so I made the 4 hour journey. Turns out the Drill Press came from an estate sale of an elderly gentleman who primarily used to in his wood shop to build wooden toys for children. The seller bought it from the estate sale with intentions of reselling it. I bought it and hauled it home after testing the unit rather quick. Motor ran good and the bearings were quiet and had little if any runout.

Issues I've found:

Issues I've found:
- April 14th 2022. PO had a Standard V-Belt A42 on it. I replaced it with a Bando "Power King" Cogged Belt AX42 which is a 44" belt. While installing this new belt I found the Set Screw on the Motor Pulley was loose. The Motor Pulley had spun on the Motor Shaft thus scoring the Shaft no doubt cause I could not remove the Pulley. However I was able to spin the Motor Pullet around to align the Set Screw with the flat spot on the shaft. Applied some Blue Thread Locker and tightened up the Set Screw. I'm not going to pursue removing the Motor Pulley at this time cause I dont have the correct Pulley Puller tools.
- May 6th, 2022. While drilling some 3/8" holes in some Popular, I noticed the entire Quill, Spindle and Chuck Assembly was dropping out of the Drill Head Frame. I found the Set Screw on the Spindle Collar to be loose. Aligned the Set Screw Hole with what I believe to be the "Original" setting hole on the Spindle. Used a mirror and flashlight to locate while turning the Spindle and holding the Spindle Collar. Cleaned up the threads in the Spindle Collar and Set Screw with Denatured Alcohol and a few "Q-tips". Applied Blue Thread Locker and tightened up the Set Screw.
- May 10th, 2022. Noticed the Feed Stop Bracket was sitting too low. Adjusted Feed Stop Bracket up onto the Quill about 3/8".
- May 27th, 2022. Noticed while drilling some 1/2" thick Poplar that the Quill, Spindle and Chuck Assembly would drop a little after the Drill bit got through the wood. Upon examination I found that there is a little play ~3/32" in the Quill, Spindle and Chuck Assembly when I pull the Chuck up. Thats where I'm at today and why I'm here asking for advice on what is causing this 3/32" play where I have determined to be under the Spindle Collar, between the Rubber Washer (18429), and Washer (18422). I'm wondering if I need to readjust the Spindle Collar and Set Screw, or if the Rubber Washer is worn or just what may be causing this amount of 3/32" play? Or something else?
