What’re the thoughts on these 2 drill presses? I have the opportunity to get them both but I picked the bench top one over the 15 1/2 but can still get the standing one as well. The standing DP doesn’t have a crank to move the platform up and down. It does come with a nice vise. The bench top one came with a vise as well. I didn’t get a pic of the model number of the standing press. Let me know what you think.

I would say it depends on which one you can get the most use out of. Personally, I think a drill press is a drill press, meaning that if the size is the same, they're equal, except you have greater capacity with the floor model. This also depends on whether you have the space for it.

I’m not doing any major builds. The first thing I’m drilling is holes in an exhaust for the O2 sensors. It’s stainless steel but I think it’ll suffice. Space is a little tight but I could’ve fit the standing press in the garage. I’ll also be doing a few wood projects but mainly steel.

Real question is is the standing drill press a better built craftsman press compared to the bench press that was made in Taiwan at what looks like 1984.
