It wouldn't have ever bugged me, except I got a middle section for my tool cabinet and it came with the ball bearing slides.

I know I should have gotten the ball bearing drawers in the first place, but I was young and poor. And now I'm still poor enough that I don't want to sell the old ones and buy new.

So:

Has anyone had any success with a lubricant to make them slide better?

Has anyone ever gone in with ball bearing slides and replaced the easy glide sliders?

Someone mentioned in another thread I read today that they had success with silicon spray on the steel slides.

All my boxes are slides and I have yet to have an issue. I use silicone or a squirt of spray moly.

I have found that a spray lubricant containing a lot of Moly makes a HUGE difference. I have been using an old spray can of what is called "Clarks Inner Slide Lubricant" for quite some time.

You need to mask off areas you don't want the lube on. It is difficult to remove and stays in place.

P.S. I like your wide-body early 911. It's what I think all 911's should have been.

Thanks. I'll try a silicone lubricant or the stuff Harbor Freight sells. I realize now that it's probably been 10 years since I bought these things, with no lubrication ever.

Thanks. I agree. Here is is last month, blowing out the cobwebs, braking for turn one at Willow Springs Raceway.

try some M/C chain lube..........comes in aerosol can w/tube.The stuff has the property, can't think of eng. term, where it likes to "sneak" into tight places.Another handy lube is Mobile sythetic motor oil,a touch hillbilly but along with above they come in handy for certain things other than intended.BW
