Craftsman Edge Tool Chest

Hi All,

Thanks to a deal posted here, I recently purchased the 26 inch Craftsman Edge Tool Chest to use as a tool cart. I've got to say, I'm pretty impressed. It is very heavy and solid and looks quite nice. I know people here hate the Craftsman boxes, but for $275, I think it's a very nice box.

Yeah, it's back up here as well at the moment. A few weeks ago it was $275 after some coupon. I don't think it was a local deal. It was posted in the hot deal section. I'm sure it will be back on sale again.

Lots of drawers, deep drawer up top, good mix of shallow and deep drawers. Large casters, grip latch. Can you post some real photos of the box when you get it setup? Possibly a sheet metal thickness measurement? Enjoy it. Looks like a very nice box.

These are the same as the heavy duty premium line, with the aluminum or chrome flair on the edges.

Same griplatch, same 100# rating on the drawer slides.

IMO, the casters are absolute ****. I wouldn't use this as a tool cart. I have the 42" one and it has the same casters. No thanks.

If you can make it work, the $170 HF tool cart is a much better item.

I will try to get some pics for you. I should mention that I'm using this at home. The idea of a tool cart meaning to move it around the garage or driveway at most. So, I think the casters will be fine for this...if not, I can pick some up at HF. They look pretty standard.

I chose this over the HF tool cart because I wanted more space (this has drawers all the way down) and I wanted a top work surface rather than a flip lid. I am either going to get a butcher block top or have a steel top made for it.

Maybe a better name would have been mobile tool chest rather than tool cart?
