The Evolv line is Craftsman's cheaper line of tools.
If I remember correctly, the hard line Evolv tools have a lifetime warranty but you must have the receipt otherwise they won't exchange it.
Also, the Evolv line is made overseas - usually China and Taiwan.

I saw those the other day. They appeared to be marginally thicker than the pittsburgh impacts. If memory serves, they were made in Taiwan and looked alright. They have a similar packaging (and price point) as the kobalt impacts.

I didn't notice any stamping on them. If they're not stamped, there's a good change the size will wear off after a while. Not the end of the world, but I generally prefer a stamped socket.

I have never used those impacts. I have used other Evolv hand tools and found them to be substandard, but definitely not something I'd want to use everyday. I would think that for occasional home use, the sockets would stand up alright, but if you're going to get em, KEEP THE RECEIPT.

The evolv sockets are made in taiwan. The new cman sockets are china. The evolv were on sale 1/2 off at christmas. I should have got the shallows for $15 when i had the chance.

Bought some Evolv stuff, as said you need the receipt to have a warranty on the tool so start a receipt drawer if you invest in them. Mainly bought wrenches and haven't had any issues.

from what I have seen of warranty stuff with the Evolv stuff, you need the receipt, original packaging, and have to return the whole kit, not just individual pieces. they should work fine for occasional use around the house, other than that I would look to upgrade

For about the same amount of money (in 3/8 drive), Sunex are hard to beat. Made in Taiwan. Check tooltopia.com

I would buy HF's Pittsburgh Pro over the Craftsman Evolve any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Cheaper and Chrome Moly sockets.

I bought the 1/2" drive deep sets on black Friday $19.99. They are OK sockets. The finish is nice, and they seem slightly better then most* cheapy impact sockets.

However, IMHO the CR-MO impact sockets from HF are much nicer for the money. They are chrome molly, thin wall, have lock groves, and are cheaper then the evolv. I sold both sets of my evolv sockets last week and bought the Pittsburgh pro sets after I found out the Northern single impact sockets fill in the missing sizes perfectly.

CHINA Craftsman
only $79.99 for a $19.99 socket set! WHat a deal!

Take your gift cards and go buy some new boots or a vacuum. Then go to HF and buy the Pittsburgh pro set. Less money, better warranty, better tools.

That's a great idea to fill in the HF sets with Northern stuff. If I had not been able to get the US made Craftsman impact sockets I would have gone with HF hands down and done the same thing. Only good thing is impacts typically last a long time for home DIY use, so my US made Craftsman set should last me a life time.

I would go with the kolbolt impact sockets over the chinese made ones form craftsmen or HF.
the kobalt are taiwan and the harbor freight are taiwan as well. Not much difference between the two except the kobalt are cr-v. Harbor Freight offers them in cr-v and the pro version in cr-mo.

I had a set from HF that was made in China. Broke one a few years latter and took it back and the replacement set was made in Taiwan. Sold that set and got the Pittsburgh pro set. Don't think ill ever break these in a home shop. I've beat the hell out of these things.
