Sorting tools, I came across this Craftsman 3/8 # 44356 "H" series extension. It has a quick release button for the detent ball.

Yeah, I remember those in, maybe, the late 90s. Yours looks in good shape because it still has the sliding release button on it. Really common for that button to break off. In use, the button would contact something as the extension was spinning and that would be their demise. Pretty sure Sears didn't sell those very long, for that reason.

Thanks for the input. I guess I'll just leave it in the tool box and bring it out for show and tell.

These are handy extensions to have. I bought both the 1/4" drive and 3/8" drive 3 piece locking sets when they were still USA made, "H" series. Both sets came in 3", 6" and 10". I have to say I don't recall using the 3/8" drive much, but I always grab the 1/4" extensions. Nothing ***** more than dropping a 10mm socket into the engine bay or an 8mm underneath the dash because of a weak detent ball in a regular extension bar.

Locking extensions. I have them in several brands but the Craftsman are my favorite. Most have large collars that get in the way. Great for changing spark plugs.
