I looked at that set too but I don't use the universal joints I have that much. The only real benefit is the built in universal shortens the length versus adding a socket to a universal joint. I can typically get by with the set of wobble extensions I picked up.

I've had them for years, they work well and come in handy for stuff you can't do with a wrench or wobble extension.

Just used one last weekend to get to a couple oil pan bolts that were under rack setup that I would have had to drop the rack to get at.

I've warrantied a few over the years but just for being too loose, never for actually breaking.

Thanks for your replies. I have used them in the past but they were my dad's and I wanted a set.

Thanks again

I wouldn't waste money buying the whole set.

I only have 1/4drive 10mm and 12mm for oil pans. Not needed for something else yet.

I have yet to see any sets priced close to the Craftsman stuff. The 42-piece set, like most larger Craftsman sets, is a heck of a deal.

I used some gift cards and reward points today, and ordered the set, as I've been looking at it for quite a while. They're 10% off right now, and with one of the $5 off $50, that takes it down to about $220.

I've seen a few deeper discounts on the set, but those are fewer and farther in between, and, honestly, if you want it US-made, might as well get it while you can.

I bought the metric and sae 3/8 drive. I think I used them once working on my bike. They were also on sale at the time so I bought them. Good thing to have in the box for the time you need them, but I don't know about whole 42pcs set.

Many years ago, on some now forgotten project I had to stop and go to town and get both a universal socket and a crow's foot in 1/2". I cannot remember the job but I needed both. I later bought a set of SAE universal sockets in 3/8 drive but I think only the 7/16, 1/2, and 9/16 have ever been used. They are not needed often but when they are needed they make less of a mess than the cutting torch would.:)

I bought smaller SAE and metric sets of the flex sockets and I really like them. I think I had to add a common size or two (like 1/4" .. grrrrr) but they have come in handy for me on more occasions than I thought I would. I would only get that large set if you are a pro, or you are a tool junkie. There aren't many of those around here lol.

I have a set of Gearwrench 1/4 6pt. metric , I use them a lot for underdash stuff, very handy. Back in the day when i worked in general aviation I used my SK 1/4 6pt sae a lot. I also use my GP 3/8 metric 6pt swivels sometimes. IMO I cant see you using the 12 pt stuff that often. I just dont run across a lot 12pt stuff in my garage. Thats why I have wobbles for if I do.
