I have a 3 toon craftsman floor jack that I got new around 10 years ago and lately it seams that I have to get 3/4 all the way down with the pump handle before it starts to lift. And even then I don't get good loft like I used to. I don't know if maybe it's just because it's winter and the cold has anythjnf to do with the contraction of things..
Anyway I got some hydraulic fluid tonight and took off the fill cap screw and I thought it looked a little low so I filled her up pretty good. I put the screw back on. Pumped it up and is thought it made it a little better..then released it and the jack went down, I took the fill cap back off to check it and when I did a bunch of fluid oozed out
I put a little more back in. About 3/16" over the piston
I'm still not satisfied. Anyone have this jack or any ideas

Extreme cold weather can affect Hydraulic jack oil performance, Especially if the pump Piston seal is worn. If you haven't noticed any leakage, I would elevate the rear of the jack to move the oil to the opposite end and pull the Pump Piston and check the Orings and replace as needed.

Or wait till it warms up.. LOL

Mine did the same thing. I bled it a few times and it worked better than new. I noticed it needs to be done again this weekend.

So I did an experiment Last night I brought the jack inside the warm house..outta the cold garage and this morning it pumped like a charm. Guess it just doesn't like the cold that well
