I just located a gentleman who is having a yard sale this weekend and the most unusual item that caught my eye was the "Window Crank" Craftsman ratchet. Can someone direct me to a site or give me some insight into a very interesting tool.

This is from the 61 catalog. These were sold individually for a short time then Sears started including them in their ***-pc tools sets. Not a very practical tool and it's my speculation that they weren't big sellers on their own so they threw them in the toolsets to get rid of them. That said, they've got a cult-like following among Craftsman collectors. Look at the "sold" listings on eBay for an idea of what the market is getting for them. Certainly not rare as at any given time eBay has several for sell but they do command a pretty penny for a ratchet. Not long ago (coincidentlly right around tax-return season) there was some kind of mad-cow disease among collectors who were paying 200 and up for them. Thankfully that bout of stupidity has passed and the market has settled down a bit on them. If you can get it at a yard sale price, you'd be foolish not to grab it. Be early as the first re-seller that monitors eBay is going to be throwing elbows for it.

Did someone say window crank ratchet? Not a Craftsman, but I just happened to be goofing around up in the shop tonight and shot this photo. This seems like a good place to share it.

This is what I meant by "goofing around".

When I saw your thread about window crank ratchets, I couldn't resist posting a photo of it.
