Craftsman Garage door opener help needed

I tried to program a new KilK1U remote to my existing (25 year old) craftsman 139.18605sr door opener. The opener has a learn button and I was able to program the new remote easily. Now the problem when I use the keyfob for my 2011 Avalanche the garage doors open? I've tried to reprogram the door a number of time but the keyfob still opens the door. I tried to erase all opener codes by holding down the learn button for up to 30 second but it still retained all the remote codes. The manual does not have any info on how to clear the opener codes. Any ideas? Since I was able to program the new remote on both my openers before I found out I have a problem, both my garage door openers act the same.

There should be a little LED next to the learn button. Press and hold the learn button until that little LED light goes out. That should erase all remotes and keypads that are programmed to the opener.

I tried holding the learn button and waiting for the red led to go out but on this model that doesn't seam to work? I think the unit is so old they hadn't thought of that when it was built so it doesn't have that option. Thanks for the reply.

Do you have a plug in receiver installed with your operator? Check the outlet your operator is plugged into. If your machine is that old, it's possible a previous owner may have installed it to use new remotes, since older ones may not have been available. You've erased the codes from your operator, but this is still active. Instructions are easily found online. Either Liftmaster 635LM, or 365LM.

The very first "learn button" operators still used dip switches to set the security codes. Open your remote, and rearrange all the dip switches.

I gave up on the old garage door opener and installed a new Chamberlain 3/4 Whisper Belt Drive. I still have one other opener to replace, hopefully I'll get to it this weekend. The new opener is very quite. New Chamberlain opener
