Hi all,
I have a 1954 or 1955 Craftsman Heritage Oval logo 10 drawer toolbox like the attached (I'll post pics of mine when I get home). It's in good structural if not cosmetic shape. I've used it for about 30 years and my dad used it before that so it has some sentimental value.
First, any maintenance tips? It has collected some surface rust as it's in a fairly moist environment. Maybe just some vinegar and steel wool to get that off?
Then oil? Or should I consider putting a clear coat over it?
What is best for lubricating the slides etc?
Second, It currents sits on top of a craftsman red roller from the 80's or 90's. I would dearly love to get it on a roller from the same time period and the same gray machinist gray color.
I've looked on ebay and craigslist and FB marketplace for one but they seem pretty rare compared to the smaller toolboxes. Anyone know of a source or a good place to look?
thanks all!
