Craftsman impact gun problem

Alright guys, have a little problem with my Craftsman Pro impact gun. Haven't used it too much in the year I've owned it, probably only 4 times. Tried using it today and it just shits out whenever I use it. It has a 2 second burst of full power and then quickly goes down to nothing, hardly hits at all, and this is at like 100 psi.

What could be the problem with it? Did I damage it with too much air pressure? Just a bad impact?

I certainly wouldn't think 100psi would even hurt the cheapest of impacts.

You might run some conditioner through it; see if it cleans out anything...

Blaster Air Tool Conditioner - 16-ATC SEPTLS10816ATC

http://www.blastergroup.com.au/air-conditioner-lubricant.html

http://www.google.com/search?gcx=c&...w.,cf.osb&fp=a80cfa6e513ee79&biw=1280&bih=937

Follow the directions; let it soak and do it a number of times... see if that helps, if it doesn't take it apart... see what is damaged and go from there..

Might have to try some of that, thanks

to me if it goes full blast them slows way down sounds like an air restiction like a regulator is turned down or something.

yeah... that why i had to turn the regulation up to like 130 or 140 psi as when i use impact wrench, it would drop from 130 to 90 psi when i am use it.. if it was 100 psi and use the impact wrench, it would be drop below to like 70 or 80 psi??

Have you tried another gun, to rule out the pressure? How much capacity do you have in your air system? Usually 130+ psi is fine, though is is crapftsman...

I'd go buy a reputable manufacturer, snappy, mac or matco.

Have a pic of the gun? What is the model #? Typically they have the really dirt cheap $30 ones; the Florida Pneumatic and then the Ingersoll Rand types.... the better models are probably worth fixing. You can get parts through www.searspartsdirect.com or in the case of the ingersoll rand versions... all over the web.

Not sure which type it is, got it as a gift. Figured since it was the "Professional" one, it'd be pretty decent.

Try the warranty with a sears store before taking it apart. Taking it apart will void the warranty if they wont warranty it and they should there really isnt that much to them. I have found 3 that people throw away [ not all craftsman] I take them apart clean them up oil them and they usually work like new. I work as a trashman use all 3 that I have found. 1 Ing. Rand 1 jap brand and 1 craftsman Good Luck.

I've had one of those for many years same as an IR 2131. It does hammer down good. I have rebuilt a 3/8 of the same series not too bad to work on.

They should not give you a cheap one they are supposed to give you one of comparible price. Its not on there site because I think they are trying to do away with the pro line craftsman. Its your choice if they try to give you 1 that is cheaper just tell them to supply you with the rebuild kit for the one you have. And rebuild away.

They really are not that hard to rebuild if you have to go that route but sears will probably fix you up. One thing to remember dont let them take it and say they will rebuild it. They did that to me one time I did not get my tool back I got some rebuilt tool. How do I know I marked mine and the one they sent me wasnt mine.
