Hello I am trying to decide if I want to purchase the craftsman deep impact sockets. Looking to get some opinions on them seeing how they will be 80 dollars for both sae and metric on black friday. Are these CR-MO or CR-V. I can not find out for the life of me what they are. I know the Evolv ones are CR-V. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Here is a link to the ones I am thinking about purchasing.

Craftsman ones are now made in china, you're better off going to Harbor Freight and getting their Pitsburg pro sets. Should run you around $60 or less.

Yeah I know they are made in China I was thinking that but the Pittsburgh Pros are a less complete set. The shallow set is complete but the deep are not. I will probably get the shallow impacts from harbor Freight as they look to be a great value. Any trouble using shallow impacts with hand tools. I know you can't go the other way meaning using chrome sockets on impacts, well at least without peace of mind.

Just go to Walmart and pick up their Stanley deep impact set for less than $20.

+1. I picked these up as a back up set but now they're my primary set.

Never had a problem with mine.

Now that the Craftsman ones are made in China, I'd get the Kobalt sets instead at Lowes. They're made in Taiwan, not China. And, the sets are much more complete than the HF sets. But I don't remember if they're CR-v or CR-MO

I also have a set of the higher-end HF impacts sockets (made in Taiwan, CR-MO) and they've worked really well for me.

Ha! I wouldn't have admitted it if you didn't first, but that's my story too. I got both SAE and metric for <$20 each and they are GREAT. I use an impact on old farm equipment and haven't been able to break one so far. :rocker:

I have that same set, they work great, but that BF deal isn't that good, since periodically these go on sale for 30.00. That's what I paid for mine.

Thanks for all the suggestions I think I am leaning towards the Pittsburgh pro for my shallow set and the northern tool ones for the deeps as that set is complete.

I bought a set of crafty made in china impact sockets when they first came out for experimental purposes.

So far they are holding up fine

I can't go so far as recommending them until more stress tests are completed in all fairness
