The bushing where the valve seals against is all dried up, so there is air leaking past all the time. The part number on sears website says it is obsolete.Part number 40 #8700880. Think I can get this seal/bushing from somewhere else. Can it be that specific to that wrench? Can easily replace the wrench but after all these years it will feel strange changing old faithful. Thank you

I wish I could help, though I'll tell you that it feels good on the other side. I went from the C3 1/2" impact to the Milwaukee M12 Stubby and I don't miss the C3 at all. Have added several Milwaukee products since then, and given all my C3 stuff to a friend who still has good batteries.

I looked on Google, Ebay etc for about 20 minutes and no luck. Sometimes another part number will show up that leads to a manufacturer but every part comes back to Sears Craftsman. Nothing comes up generic except the bearings. Set it in the tool box, save a search on Ebay and if it comes up grab it. I didn't even see a listing for a whole rebuild kit. It may have been made for Sears as a throw away device.

There was another thread on a similar gun here on TGJ a few years back that came up in a search. It said that the gun was made by https://www.florida-pneumatic.com/ You might try calling them and see if they have any old parts or rebuild kits.

here is one of their catalogs from 2010. See if anything looks familiar.https://web.archive.org/web/20111005122446/http://www.florida-pneumatic.com/2010 FP Catalog.pdf

Here is a list of their service centers. https://www.florida-pneumatic.com/media/uploads/Service-Centers.pdf

Given the lack of battery support from Sears/Craftsman, I can't see investing any money in that tool. FWIW, the Ryobi platform is very similar (can't recall if they made them for Craftsman, but it seems like they did), and less likely to strand you. For more money, the Milwaukee FUEL stuff is fantastic

Is it just an o ring? Can you measure it and pick up a generic part to replace it?

not an o ring, it's like a thick rubber washer

I think you can also get rubber washers. Either way I think if you measure it you might find it can be purchased as a stock part. You might even be able to make it if you can get the material stock.

If you are repairing it like me, just because you love doing it, then cut your own. Inner tubes supply a lot of my repair material. If you are trying to save it to save money, forget it. That one isn't worth the trouble. Flea market value on a working model is around 10 to 15 dollars.

McMaster Carr has pages and pages of rubber seals like this. Flat washers, O-rings, square cross section o-rings, etc, etc.

A lot of great ideas! Did not want to pull the bushing out until I had a replacement. I tried to get it out the other day and used a pick to try and pull it out. It was in there good. Did not want to destroy it. Guess it has to come out to get some measurements. Maybe, some home fabrication will work. Everyone here is the best! Thank you

Just an update. The wrench is repaired! I called Florida pneumatic who manufactured the tool. They were extremely helpful sending me some parts which they though might help. None of them worked for me. Then I contacted powertoolrepairohio.com who looked up their inventory. To my surprise they had one bushing left in stock! A few minutes of work and old faithful is perfect again. Thank you everyone for the help.
