Well I've been lurking for a long while and this is my first post so I hope it doesn't ****.

SearsOutlet.com has several of the 7 piece SAE and Metric Craftsman industrial wrench sets for 22.88 advertised as NEW... Or at least they appear to be the industrial wrenches.

SAE

Metric

Edit: Oh and they e-mailed me this 5 off 50 code for friends "friend32001" you just have to find a filler.

Welcome aboard! :rocker:

Unfortunately these are not the desired CMan Industrial Wrenches that had us going nuts over the past months. These are the regular inexpensive option in their wrench line.

CMan Industrial that we want has features such as full polish (not only does it look good but it is hell of a lot easier to clean) and they are longer (for extra leverage).

The wrenches you posted above are great and get the job done. I used these wrenches for 2 years with no problems (and still do due to space constraints) but CMan industrial is duplicate of a SO or Mac wrench.

The pictures show these as ratcheting wrenches. $23 for a set of USA ratcheting wrenches isn't bad, but these don't have near the smoothness as Gearwrench.

x2. I have a set of these and they have done nothing but sit in my toolbox since I bought the Gearwrench equivalent.

AAP will put the Gearwrench set that's actually a little better (offset and reversible) on sale for $30. I'd wait for that deal to come up instead.

Thanks for the welcome :)

Are you sure these aren't industrial? I googled the part # for both sets and only found info on the metric set on ebay. The Ebay auction for the 7pc metric set appears to be BNIB and the box is labeled as industrial. Have a look;

www.ebay.com/itm/CRAFTSMAN-7-PC-COMBINATION-WRENCH-SET-METRIC-10MM-19MM-16508-/251164642348

Either way I could use some wrenches and I ordered a set of each and they will be here on the 4th. I can post back with pics if you guy would like.

You are wrong. These are Industrial and are not full polish. Not all Industrial was full polish, plenty of it was RP. You can see in the picture that it does not say simply "Craftsman" on the wrenches.

Awesome! So my first post doesn't ****! I thought the metric sizes were odd for a regular set. I guess we can be 100% certain when I get mine on the 4th.

For the price, they are a good deal on a USA-made set. However, like some of the comments above, these are based on an outdated design and don't ratchet nearly as well as most newer versions. If you don't use a ratcheting wrench very often, they should get you by just fine. They are, after all, better than nothing!

I bought those sets when they were about $28, they have tons of those at the Outlet near me. I also have the full polish Craftsman Industrial ratcheting wrenches in the pouch.

I eventually returned those raised panel ones. They are a great deal for $22, but since I already had the full polish Craftsman Industrial ratcheting (as well as the full polish Gearwrench flex head ratcheting) I ended up returning them.

The main reason I returned them is they seem to have a much lower tooth count than the full polished version. Also, they are not smooth when ratcheting. That make a loud, clank, clank, clank, clunk, clunk, clunk sound when turning, and you can feel the clunk, clunk, clunk vibrate through your hand.

They are better than nothing. But it seems like these days there is such a flood on the market of sets of finer tooth, full polish, smooth mechanism ratcheting wrenches often on sale for $29.99. So might be worth waiting it out until a full polish set comes around for a few dollars more. About once a month you see a set on sale on this site.

Seems though that the non-polished Industrial wrenches are no different than the regular Craftsman wrenches.

Yes and No.

Depends what you are comparing to. Craftsman Industrial raised panel wrenches are all 100% made in the USA. The "regular" Craftsman wrenches are divided into either "old" made in the USA, or "new" made in China.

So which "regular" are you comparing the Craftsman Industrial wrenches to? The USA regulars or the China regulars? If the former, then yes, the same. If the latter, then no, different.

And the polished no different than the professional. I don't recall anybody claiming these are different than a typical RP wrench, but they are in fact Industrial branded.

I haven't done a side-by-side comparison, but the Industrial-branded ones do seem to have a finer finish to them. The alloy and heat treatment could also be different, resulting in less obvious strength benefits.

When I chatted with a Craftsman guy about it, he said the Industrial tools are manufactured to higher standards, but I don't know if that was blind marketing talk or not.

I've compared the two side by side, and there are no visible differences.

I would be very surprised if they manufactured them differently when they look identical. Seems like a big waste of R&D when the Pros hold up just fine.

You guys will not believe this!

Order both the SAE and Metric sets - 2 each, several weeks ago! Four or five days after the order was accepted, I received a email saying the order was canceled!

Well surprise, surprise, well I tried! Today the door bell rang and I received a shipment out of Sears Portage IN with both a SAE and MET Industrial , and they are made in the USA and look good! OK, well I'm a happy camper.

An hour later, I find another box at the front door, label only has the shipping address. Have no idea where they came from. Set # 2 in the original boxes!!! Marked at $22 EA.

As of this writing, I never received an email from Sears they were shipping the wrenches!
