Never had any ratcheting wrenches, so I'm looking to add some to my collection. I'm just an at-home DIY'r who tinkers on my cars and other things around the house (lawn mower, snowblower, etc.) so I don't have the need or $ to get top of the line tools. Majority of my stuff is CM made in USA stock and has served me just fine, so that's kinda where I'm looking for price points.

I recently picked up some 8 piece sets (metric and sae) of ratcheting reversible CM Industrial polished wrenches for ~$40 each. Made in USA and seem pretty nice. I think the reversible feature would be handy. Similar to these:

I am concerned about the warranty on theses in the future though. Who knows what will happen with the Industrial lineup, and the regular craftsman pro are already made in china now (I think?). Or maybe I shouldn't even be worried about the warranty since I'm just a weekend warrior and they should hold up fine as long as I don't go overboard on them.

I wouldn't mind "splurging" on something really nice to put in my toolbox but idk if ratcheting wrenches is the place for that. I think I might be served just fine by the similar GW lineup.

Sears also has a closeout on these locking flex ratcheting wrenches from the CM Industrial lineup. Maybe just a set of flexing wrenches would serve all my needs and I should return the nonflex reversible sets.

Or should I just wait for a deal on the gearwrench flexing wrenches to come along...I have no problem waiting for deals. Thoughts???

I've had my metric ratcheting wrenches from Craftsman for about 5 years or so. I'm sure they are similar to the new "Industrial" ratcheting wrenches, since they are both USA and look the same. I've had no issue, and do not expect to have any issues. If they do fail, you will most likely end up with Chinese versions, but that's exactly what you would have started with for $40 to start with.

op I have a 5+ year old set I used at work almost daily and I gave them hell 7/16,9/16 & 3/4 were used almost non stop some days. I kept them in a tool bag that would get wet from truck bins leaking. After all that abuse the most I have ever done was spray wd-40 around the mechanism. They never let me or my partner down who had the same set.

I since bought 2 sets of metric and 2 sets of the sae. I am not concerned about warranty one bit. As I only have these at home now I no longer provide my own tools. I am planning on taking my older set into work now that I have bought 4 sets of the craftsman industrials. BTW there is a total of 12 metric sizes available. You will be more than happy with those wrenches and for that price you cant find any USA made ratchet wrenches.

Ive got the 12MM + 8SAE FP USA Crafty reversibles as well. No problems at all with em, they are good stuff. Grab them while you can, especially if they are still on closeout.
If you want some ratcheting wrenches to splurge on, watch for Tooltopia's BOGO deal on Gearwrench Gearbox XL zero offsets (you get the SAE free when the BOGO is in effect) They make a terrific complimentary set for the Crafty reversibles.

Thanks for the feedback. Good to know that if they hold up to daily usage with no problems, then I shouldn't have any issues just using them every few weekends. They certainly feel and look very nice quality (and made in USA to boot).

Only one problem now...there's 12 metric sizes available??? Ugh, now I need to go find the other 4 to compliment my 8 piece set lol. Where's the best place to source these individuals, Grainger? I took a quick peek and I would be spending double what I paid for the whole set just to get these 4 additional wrenches...maybe I'll hold off on that. :lol_hitti

three of them are available from zoro tools. but if you spend 75 you get free shipping and 15 off with welcome1 coupon code. One is only available from Grainger.

I have all twelve in my garage but only 8 in my basement I like them so much I decided to complete the set while I still can. I put them in an Ernst rack.

NTX has the Metric set for $157 with free SAE set.

Use the chat to verify it is in stock before you order, some of the GW bogos are out of stock with no expected return.

I like that, nice set!

Unfortunately, I'm having a hard time to convince myself to spend ~$80 additional on the 4 filler wrenches when I only spent $40 on the 8 piece set to begin with. I'll probably just do it though...it's gonna bug me having those couple missing wrenches.

Could you help me out and give me the zoro tool #'s of the three wrenches you ordered from zoro? I'm having a heck of a time on their website making sure I have the correct ones.

I believe I found the 9mm to order from Grainger. Grainger #20H313. Mfr. # 9-24631. The item desription says cross-force but the picture looks correct.

Thank you in advance!

I've had several of these wrenches (with regular Craftsman marking) for a couple of years, and they've become some of my favorites. Well made in USA and they work great.

I picked up a set of eight SAE (from 5/16 to 3/4) yesterday at a Sears Outlet for $52.95, including that *very* nice made-in-USA tool roll as well. Great deal. I almost bought two, but heck, I really don't need more!

At $6.60 per wrench, including roll, they're a steal.

The way I did it was I found them on graingers site and then copied the model number and searched on zoro.

11 mm
http://www.zorotools.com/g/Ratcheting Wrench/00016510/

The first time i ordered the 4 extra wrenches i got two from Zoro and two from grainger but the second time I found three on zoro and the 9 mm on grainger.

The part numbers for the 4 wrenches are
24641- 19 mm
24639- 16 mm
24633- 11mm
24631- 9mm

For some reason when I searched zoro for the 16 mm it took me to blackhawk ratchet wrenches so I will look for my invoice and see what zoro's part number is.

Are these basically the same as the USA FP Craftsman Ratcheting Wrenches?

If so, I can vouch for how awesome these are for anyone wondering... I've never had any problems with mine in over 10 years.
I may have to get some for the house since they're so ch... affordable.

Dang you... I was in the ignorance is bliss stage... now I have to find (4) more wrenches to go with my set. I paid $22 for (7) of them, and Zoro and Grainger want $21 (or more) for each of the (4)... UGH

Perfect, thanks!

If you put 9-XXXXX before the product #'s it'll bring up the 16 mm.

does anybody have the parts list for the metric set? I never got one so I'd like to have one on file.

Hey Chad, How does the length on your CI ratcheting wrenches compare to the standard CI full polish (long pattern) wrenches? Are they shorter or the same length? I've tried checking your photos to compare, but I can't really make out the size markings on your ratcheting wrenches in order to compare. I've seen Armstrong ratheting wrenches that appear to be long pattern, but I'm not even sure if the CI ratcheting ones are made by Armstrong like the full polish wrenches are. ???

Anyone have a Craftsman Industrial Ratcheting wrench fail?

My New 10mm C-Man Indust. Ratcheting Wrench failed on me while tightening coil pack brackets on a 01 Trans Am.

Bought the 8 piece set/canvas pouch a 2 months ago. Looks like Sears doesn't sell single Industrial ratcheting wrenches anymore so I will probably get refunded for the single wrench.

The ratcheting CI wrenches are shorter than the regular CI wrenches.

Received my Craftsman Industrial sae and metric reversible ratcheting wrench sets today and I'm NOT overly impressed!

For some reason I thought these would be of the same beautiful quality and finish as my 14 pc CI combination wrench sets, but these don't even come close. For USA made wrenches, it really surprises me that these look nearly identical in appearance and FP finish to my Taiwan and China made Gearwrench sets. If I didn't know differently, I would swear they came from the same manufacturing plant, but I know they didn't. Then there's the 18mm and 3/4" wrenches in my sets. Both have what I would consider major casting flaws and I'm going to have to call Apex on Monday and see about getting replacements.

Guess if these perform as well as my Gearwrench's have, I'll be happy. It's just disappointing when comparing them to my CI combo wrenches. No comparison IMO!

I think it's the finish that qualifies them as "industrial", i.e., not shiny and pretty, just functional.

Agreed, I'm warming up to them a little more this morning since getting over the surprise of them looking so different from the CI combo wrenches. Took a photo of all three 18mm wrenches together for comparisons. I bought the CI reversibles because I'm not a big fan of the cap-stop feature on the Gearwrench, so functionallity is really the whole reason I got them.

Edit: BTW, the casting flaw in the CI reversible 18mm I refered to is hard to see in the photo, but the offset (arch) in the ratcheting end is so extreme that the wrench won't sit in my Ernst wrench rack without touching and buckling up the wrenches next to it. I have to have it sitting way to the left of the other wrenches for clearance in the rack. None of the others have that much arch, so I'll be calling Apex.

I was going to call 1-800-832-7494 for an issue with a wrench, but not a ratcheting wrench, just a regular one, but they close at 4:30pm so I need to call earlier!

I called the same number that you have. I'm in Calif. so I called on my lunch break from work. It just seemed too easy to me. Like Chad has said: "no questions asked". I really don't know what keeps the less than honest guys from calling and getting free wrenches?
