I have that exact ratchet. Bought it online when they were clearing them out two summers ago. $8 + tax.

I remember those ratchets. They were the least expensive ratchets Craftsman used to have and they were made in the USA. I belive 1/2" drive was like $10-12. It's a simple round head ratchet with no quik release. I believe SEARS went from this being the least expensive Craftsman to Evolve.

I do believe you're right Otis. They replaced the older Craftsman tri-wings as the basic offering. Funny, as I check ebay vintage ratchets, the tri-wings bring in a good price. In most cases, equal or better than when new. Go figure. :dunno:

That ratchet isn't anything to write home about. They were craftsman versions of a Danaher made design that you could get in KD, Allen, and now Armstrong brands with a knurled handle. The ratchet would separate, slip, and bind. It wasn't one of the best designs to carry the craftsman name. $30 is about double what they cost before sear clearanced them out a few years ago. I think I picked the 3/8 version up for like $5 for a road kit.
I think the whole Craftsman Industrial line is a marketing ploy. The only thing industrial about the tools is the price.:wtf:

I have had three of these ratchets come apart for no reason. I got them in socket sets back in 1999-2000. The first was 1/4 that just started auto-reversing for no reason. I exchanged that and they gave me the exact model in return. Since I had some RP ratchets by then, I put them in my carrying box that goes in the truck when I go riding. I had two 3/8 and the 1/4 that had the hex bolt that hold the head in loosen and fall out in the box without me touching them. They just came loose by all the movement of the box. Its sad, but the RP ratchets are much nicer then those. Instead of exchanging them I gave them to my kid for her play tool box. Not a strong design.
