They are franchisees, but that doesn't mean they get free vehicles to sell, they have to buy those vehicles which makes then a reseller, I believe your point was a warranty is through the manufacturer not the reseller.

It's not an either/or, they're both. And, again, new auto sales / support is a regulated market. It's not the same thing. When states dictate how sales of new tools must happen, it'll be a more reasonable comparison.

Actually states do govern warranties why do you think when you read the fine print it says in certain areas these conditions may not apply, please check with your area to see if you additional rights. But that's neither nor.

Obviously at the end of the day Stanley black & decker is responsible for the warranty, but where is it going to be honored at? one of one of their many SB&D stores? I bet not, so where do you send it china? and if SB&D is going to allow various retailers to peddle their wares why wouldn't they want or allow them to also make the warranty exchanges? But to expect the consumer to ship the item back to the Manufacturer and at the consumers expense, where's the free easy no questions asked unlimited warranty in that? That's the point.

Who knows what's to come? but for us folks theres an Auto value and Advanced auto right in town that both sell lots of different brands that have lifetime guarantees and they warranty exchange them all. As for me I started out with Craftsman, and for specialty tools I went with Snap on, Then I decided I'd better get out while the getting was good in 2014 so I started selling off my craftsman and replacing them with Snap on.
I did get all the Craftsman replaced  but unfortunately I didn't get them all sold before the value was gone so I do still have some craftsman left.:(

It's not too hard to understand, why retail stores would not be interested in warranty swaps craftsman tools.

It would be nothing but endless hassles, and probably 2/3 of their transactions

It is yet to come. I called one of my local Napa's and was told that Craftsman is not in stock yet.

I delivered to a NAPA a week ago and they had Craftsman cordless impacts on display right up front

Now here we go Sears Craftsman and Stanley labeled Craftsman both at Ollie’s side by side. Not sure what the deal with this is.

Both sets appear to be discontinued but the SAE Easy Read sockets that were with them are still available at Sears.

Farm & Fleet (the OG version of those) has been selling them hot and heavy. Granted, they always have...just not the power tools until recently.

I think NAPA shoots itself in the foot marketing tools. The Carlyle line, with a broad brush here, seems to be as good or better than their import tool competition. It looked like they might finally achieve some consistency again. Now Craftsman? Their lineup always seems so inconsistent. My closest NAPA didn't even have Carlyle. I had to order a ratchet online.

Shocker. Napa’s marketing of the Carlyle line ***** and their social media presence is annoying. They post memes now which aren’t even entertaining and they’re rude when they respond to questions/suggestions. Every time I’ve gone into a NAPA for tools, they act like I’m bothering them. The tools are behind the counter. The rarely have what I’m looking for. Great tools with terrible customer service. I don’t even bother anymore. It’s less of a hassle to shop elsewhere.

I don’t need to degree in business or marketing to know that they don’t know what the hell they’re doing.

So the PX exchange cleared out the old Craftsman raised panel ratchets before the holdiays and I saw the "new" ratchets and craftsman packaging this week. Pretty disappointed that they are still COO China, especially for the exorbitant price! Are these new style rachtets significantly better than the old RP ratchets? Living in Germany, I haven't followed the Craftsman expansion to HD and Lowes with much interests and this is my first opportunity to see the updated line in person. I would go with Tekton over these Craftsman. I'll keep my old USA Craftsman tools for posterity but they have been retired to storage.

I know Craftman takes a beating on GJ and I'm not looking to pile on, I just don't see how they can compete against online competition like Tekton and GW. The PX also stocks Dewalt (Coo Taiwan) ratchets and sockets which seem to be of better quality for a better price. I now buy most of my tools online or on the German economy, but I want to see Craftsman succeed.

I was at my local NAPA store a couple days ago, no Craftsman in sight, but they still had the same large Carlyle display I am familiar with. AFAIK, Carlyle and ICON use the same supplier, and many of their products, namely ratchets and ratcheting wrenches, are identical. If HF wasn't so close to me, I would make the case to go with Carlyle if I was shopping for imported tools.

I do wish my local NAPA store would have a proper Homak display in store. My local Runnings store just ended their relationship with Homak, and cleared the floor of all merchandise. As of last week, they only carry Montezuma, Steel Core (same OEM as Harbor Freight) and DeWalt toolboxes.

So I was in a local NAPA (actually the largest one in 3 counties) and they are in the middle of redoing the counter sales area. Since all the tools were gone off the wall, I asked the guy if they were getting Craftsman. He said no. He said they were just trying to maximize their front sales area and make it easier for customers to find stuff like chemicals, tools, electrical stuff, etc and to have more of it on hand. He told me its a store owner decision as to bring in Craftsman or not. He said (and I agree) the market place has become saturated with Craftsman now and why do they want to help increase that? They are sticking with Carlyle.
