Just picked up this CM jointer from FBM, probably model 103.206xxx (label is off). Been looking for a 6" jointer for cheap for about a year, and this popped up for $50. Took a 45 min drive through the countryside with my bride, paid the full price to an appreciative owner selling off some of grandpa's things. Missing the blade guard, but that is an easy make. There are a couple of tiny BBs of weld spatter on one end, and a nick on the blades, but the 1/2 hp motor works well. It will need some polishing of the table, and a good inspection of the bearings, and good clean up. I may tear it all down and paint it the CM gold. I'll be needing it for a couple of summer projects, but this one now takes priority.

Not to rain on your parade, and that is a neat piece of equipment, but I never liked the ones where the outfeed table wasn't adjustable. It makes setting the knives a little more difficult.

Yeah, I figured that would prompt some comments, and for sure my choice was an old Delta/Rockwell or similar. Almost pulled the trigger on a Boice-Crane, but just too far away. Seems, though, that gazillions of board feet have been run through these machines without much complaint. I reckon I'll figure it out!
The easiest way to handle chipped knives is to shift one of them a bit to the right and another a bit to the left.

Looks like sleeve bearings, keep them oiled and they'll never wear out.
Good tips. After woodworking for 40 years this is my first jointer. I can use all the tips I can get.
