My drill press is a 103.23140, it has about .007 lateral movement at the chuck when down about 2 in, but the quill itself has about .005 movement in the housing. I don't see any provision for bushings in the housing on the parts list, does the quill ride in bare bores in the cast iron? There is no movement at the spindle in relation to the quill so the spindle bearings should be good, correct? .007 grows when the quill is extended down and it's a bit irritating with a small drill sometimes as I can't be as precise as I need to be. Can this be fixed? Is this much play normal for this machine?
Any help would be appreciated.
