So on black friday i bought this worklight
http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_...ame=All&psid=FROOGLE01&sid=IDx20070921x00003a
Its listed as the 35 LED well i finally got around to opening it and its nice and bright but i noticed something odd. The bottom LED doesnt turn on so natually i assumed it was just a defective bulb but when i looked at the packaging i noticed that very bottom led, the same as on mine, isnt on also, so i counted and there are 36 leds total but its listed as 35 LED worklight so i assume that bottom one just isnt wired in or turns on in any unit.

my question is why would craftsman put an led in the unit that doesnt turn on, there is nothing listed in the manual for it and there are warning to not open it so i assume its not a spare. Does anyone have an idea why this is?

Possibly b/c LEDs require a certain voltage dependent on how many are being lit? So either A. they wanted it too look a certain way or B. figured out it was brighter if that one was disconnected. I'm just taking a stab at it.

It is wierd but they may use a generic off the shelf circuit board with the LEDs and for some reason can't or decided not to use the 36th LED. To change the circuit board to 35 only may cost more for the vendor to do a special run.

How is the LED light otherwise compared to a standard incandescent or flourescent light?

I ask since I bought some LED C9 Xmas lights. They are OK but even though the box said they are supposed to be bright they are about half as bright as the standard incandescent C9s that I already have and have a "colder feel" to them. I decided to decorate the outside with the standard C9s, I'm just not happy with the LED ones.

I'd say it's either the charging indicator, or low-battery indicator.

I checked the manual online and it didn't mention anything specific.
