The full polished KD and Allen branded wrenches Cripe sells are not the long pattern. They are standard length. For wrench sizes under 1 inch, they're shorter than the US made Craftsman Professional series by an inch to 1.5 inches. Great wrenches but, not long.

I didn't realize that, the ones I bought from them were the larger ones to fill in the skips I had and they fit right in. I assumed the smaller size ones were long pattern as well. Thanks for the heads up though.

Here's the ones I bought and like you mentioned they are the larger sizes so that's why they match.

anyone know roughly was year they switched from SK professional long patterns to the danaher/armstrong longs?

They switched to the new full polished raised panel professionals starting with the 1998-99 tool catalog. They only lasted about a year and then the Danaher made versions came in so, let's say 2000.

Regarding the wrenches you mention in your sig, I think I've seen Cman Pros in old stock USA at a local Sears hometown store, and I will be trying to find out soon (need to warranty one with spread jaws) if they still have USA stock. If I see a USA made 11 and 19, do you want them?

i just picked them up yesterday, havent taken down the sig line yet, appreciate the offer though. thats why im asking about the SK style, i got them yesterday in open stock, they had mostly the danaher style but some SK style mixed in. i couldnt believe it.

if they dont come from china... where are all these made in china wrenches with the lobster claws coming from??

i didnt say they only come from china.

did you read my post? or shootin' from the hip?

It all depends on the readers interpretation of come from.

My interpretation of that was originate from. They did not originate from China, but yes, they are currently manufactured there.

Don't like my interpretation? Another thread was titled the SAME way:

Lobster Claws Don't Come From China

EDIT: also, if you are referring to where something is made when you say come from, there is no arguing that. It is stamped right on the box/tool itself. So no I would not even think to argue that. :headscrat

(unless they are lying when stamping the country on these tools)

Wow, I can't believe you found open stock of old style SK made wrenches in a store. The SK made craftsman professionals first showed up around 1990. When they initally came out, they offered two lengths standard and long. The standard lengths were only available in sets for like one christmas season and the long versions stayed around for about 10 years. Then the fully polished long raised panels showed up briefly lasting like a year, followed by the danaher/armstrong made versions.

yeah, they have nice bright chrome, which stands out from all the danaher made. they only had a couple sizes though, but they are considerably longer than the danaher wrenches when comparing same sizes. ill get a pic up of the brand spankin new SK craftsman in a bit
