I know Craftsman tools take a lot of flack for being made in China. But how about if they were made in Taiwan instead?

I was in Lowe's the other day. Appears the $20 1/4 ratchet is the China one and next to it; the $30 one is Taiwan.

Anyone have both? Anyone noticed other Craftsman tools made in Taiwan?

What if they moved all their overseas production to TW; would that bring them up to GearWrench, Tekton, Icon, Pittsburgh Pro, and Carlisle?

The gun metal chrome Craftsman tools should be decent. The 120 position gun metal chrome ratchets are functionally very similar to the GW 120xp ratchets except it is non serviceable. The hard handled screwdrivers are also made in Taiwan now. I would just stick with GW or Tekton because they have a bigger product line.

I like the 120 tooth one I got as a warranty replacement but I would not be shocked if the second the Chinese plant can figure out how to get the gunmetal finish they'll stop making the ratchets in Taiwan.

Like others said, they aren’t bad. But the price is not competitive. Curious how long the name badge can carry them forward
