Craftsman Model 115.6962 motor from 1954

I'm refurbing a 1954 Craftsman 1/2 hp, 1750 rpm, Model 115.6962, Type CR220K21 motor that came to me on a Craftsman Model 80 table saw. I've got the end caps loose but not off because bearings seem to be stuck on the shaft and in the end caps. What do I need to do next, get a puller and pull the end caps off (with the bearings?) or drift the end caps off and pull the bearings off separately? Would pulling the end caps and bearings together ruin the bearings? It seemed to spin smoothly (by hand!) before dis-assembly but I need to rewire it and check the bearings if I don't destroy them first.

This saw required a 1/2 or 3/4 hp, 3450 rpm motor, but this is a replacement motor from a planer-jointer. I'm looking for the correct motor, but til then this will have to do... and then I have other plans for it.

I rebuilt one of those and IIRC the end caps and bearings come off as one unit. Put some penetrating oil on the shafts and then smack the end of the shaft with a deadblow after you remove the bolts that hold the endcaps on. They should pop off.

Those are tough motors. Mine only needed some frayed up wiring replaced and it runs smooth.
