I looked all over for a 3/8" USA made, no luck. If anyone stumbles upon one at their local sears I would be very appreciative if they would be willing to sell it to me. Would pay shipping and expenses for your time if required.

I'll go run over to my local Sears, they had Made in the USA of all the modules the last time around. They had a bunch of new old stock. The packaging was yellow looking beat up plastic, and about a half inch of dust. But the tools inside where perfect condition Made in the USA.

That would be awesome! Last time I lucked out with the .25" and .5" drive set, but the 3/8 was not USA. I returned it and scoured every sears within a one our drive to no avail. I even went as far as looking for the ratchet only in the 3/8" drive, still no USA stock around here. Its odd because my local sears is a ghost town, however the introduction of the "non USA" tools seemed to coincide with the introduction of new displays. Seemed like new displays / display configuration was introduced and all the USA tools were gone. Only items I found of interest last time I was in that were USA were screwdrivers, standard and professional.

Are these a great deal for someone looking to start a tool collection? How does one tell if they are cheap China made or USA made? I'd like to buy strictly USA made tools but I'm sure that's a little more expensive. I just moved into my new house with a 1 car garage and I'm looking to get a box and start filling it because I have a 1967 International 1300 I'm building.

Near the UPC, you will usually find the COO (Country of Origin) as USA, China, or Taiwan. Some of the full polish combination wrenches are stamped "U.S.A." if made here.

All were China except for one 1/2" set which was 12-point. The 1/4 and 3/8 sets were 6-point. The tray was a cheap and thin plastic, disappointing in person.

I've been eyeing these for a while- gave in and bought the 3/8" module. I have a Blue Point 1/4" set, so I figured these would be a good addition. Mine were made in China. I like the tray set up- I'll see how it fits in my Craftsman box.

I actually like the plastic moldings that the tools are packed. All you need to do is just fill the back with house spray foam. Wait 8 hours and cut off the excess with a razor blade or hack saw, it is now a great holder that can taking a beating.:rocker:

Thanks for checking..... Maybe it's time to throw in the towel and just buy the non USA module. Standards lowering..

Fight the urge!

It's tough to find American made tools that are affordable like Craftsman. People suggest lots of great names that make great tools but none of them are remotely affordable for the home mechanic.

I was hoping to finish my set. Have the .5" and .25" set and was hoping to finish it out. These are not my primary tools and I want a "set". Have on at my cabin and was trying to build a semi nice tool set for my snowmobile trailer as well.

Which location did you end up checking? You may save me some time in checking if its near me.

I had checked the Manassas Mall (Manassas VA) and Columbia Mall (Columbia MD) locations before, they only have Chinese sets. Will try to check Frederick MD and western Baltimore MD today.

Frederick, MD 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 are all china now. They do have a module of USA impact sockets. Its on the bottom shelf and the box is beat to hell.

Their large wrench modules are also all USA.

Sounds like a good idea. Are you talking about the "Great Stuff" brand foam filler?

Correct, that's what I had laying around the house and it did a great job. I think any of the expand to a hard consistency foam will work just fine.
