I have a Mohawk Craftsman drill press that I just rescued. It is complete and in really good shape but rusty. The PO had it in a out building that wasn't temp controlled or insulated. What are the best methods for removing the rust without compromising the finish underneath?

I picked up this Craftsman/ Dunlop model# 101.03582 is this what you mean by mohawk?
