I was at my local OSH today and came across these. I'm sure they are this cheap because they are probably being replaced or closed out or something but I already have the right angle impact (and really like it). Today I only bought the LED light. I was in a rush or I would have bought more. I will probably go back again tomorrow to pick up a few other things that I now "need".

$3.99 for the LED flash light http://www.osh.com/Osh-Categories/T...an-Nextec-G1-LED-Worklight,-12-volt/p/6973986
$6.24 for a new battery http://www.osh.com/Osh-Categories/T...rgers/Craftsman-Nextec-12-V-Battery/p/6836928
$7.49 for the finish sander http://www.osh.com/Osh-Categories/T...ium-Ion-True-Finish-Sander,-12-volt/p/6973978
$9.99 for the quick boost charger http://www.osh.com/Osh-Categories/T...raftsman-Nextec-Quick-Boost-Charger/p/6906531
$9.99 for the 12v inflator http://www.osh.com/Osh-Categories/Craftsman-Nextec-12-Volt-Inflator/p/6974000
$14.99 for the impact driver http://www.osh.com/Osh-Categories/T...an-Nextec-Impact-Driver-(tool-only)/p/6941181
$14.99 for the circular saw http://www.osh.com/Osh-Categories/T...man-Nextec-Circular-Saw-(tool-only)/p/6941199
$24.00 for the rotary tool w/battery http://www.osh.com/Osh-Categories/T...-Tools/CRAFTSMAN-Nextec-Rotary-Tool/p/6938187
$24.99 for the right angel impact driver w/battery http://www.osh.com/Osh-Categories/T...xtec-12-V-Right-Angle-Impact-Driver/p/6866685

Some things are in store only and a few of the tools do not come with the battery or charger.

OSH still has some Craftsman USA stuff. I noticed they had some USA mechanics sets on their clearance tables. I wonder if this means they are discontinuing their relationship with Craftsman and taking on Kobalt.

The only thing available online is the straight impact driver. no battery, shipping is $15 and so is the driver. Good prices and good deal if you are in CA with a local store. Thanks for sharing

Thanks Twisted Sid. Picked the last 8 impact drivers online. Worked out to $18.50 ea with tax and shipping. Will stop by my local store and see what's there.

Thanks OP!

After seeing your post this morning I went by my local OSH hoping to add to my NEXTEC collection but expecting them to be out of most everything. To my surprise they had quite a good stock so I picked up a few more items for my son and myself. They also had all of the drills and impacts, but I don't need. I was hoping to get the trim saw but no dice on that one. After tax, $61 for everything!

Sorry about the photo being upside down. Don't know why it loads like that? :dunno:

Nice deals for anyone that has Nextec tools. It seems like sears has abandoned it though.

Thanks op! I added a few tools to my nextec collection. Picked up 6 led's, 3 circular saws, 3 sanders, an impact, a drill kit and 4 batteries. our local store only had one open box circular saw with battery that they marked down to $10. Gave my bro in law 2 batteries and the open box circular saw. all in all a great day. I wish I could find more batteries though.

Jesus, 8 of them? You flipping them at the swap meet or something?

Went back today and grabbed another battery for $6 and one of these http://www.osh.com/Osh-Categories/T...rs/Craftsman-Nextec-G2-Drill-Driver/p/6938161 its the drill, quick changer and battery for $20.

I was inspired to try my hand at flipping after reading about all the 50 cent Home Depot nails people bought and flipped. Stopped by my local store on the way home yesterday and they did't have a single impact driver, so I'm glad I picked up the ones online.

I took a little drive today to another OSH about a half an hour from me just to see what they had left. I bought their last two Nextec circular saws. With exception of one lighted battery that I bought last night, none of my stores have any of the batteries. Might be why these Nextec tools that don't already include batteries aren't flying off the shelves at these prices. What good is the tool without a battery to power it? Fortunately I already have about 6 or 7 batteries from my prior collection!

Checked the local OSH and they had stock, but everything was still marked with the retail prices. Staff was unaware that any of the Nextec stuff was on sale. Had a clerk do a price check and when the clearance prices came up - averaging 75% off she was genuinely surprised.

Got two impact drivers, a trim saw, two inflators, two "true finish" sanders, two LCD work lights, a quick boost charger, a battery light combo, and a right angle impact driver kit for about $130 before tax. I was looking for more batteries, but there was only one on the shelf. Pretty much cleaned them out....

Tried another local OSH, but they had the sale prices posted and the shelves were bare. Picked up their display model inflator for $9.99, but that was about all they had.

Stopped by the local Sears on the way home to see if I could score more batteries, but all their Nextec stuff was full retail.

If you can find it - buy it. Nextec is made by Chervon (not TTI as I had posted previously).

Concord CA store - No batteries, no inflators, no LED lights, no right angle driver.

I bought a sander, and don't think anything else was on closeout. They had the $110 impact driver / drill kit, but I wasn't sure if that was on clearance.

I really wanted a couple of batteries and the inflator, I'd have taken a saw if they had one too. Oh well,

Wow, I think I would've cleaned them out -- at those prices. Not really into 12V stuff, but at those prices I'd have gotten into 12V. ha ha, good for lighter duty tasks to save weight.

You guys in CA are rolling in the savings on those !! ;) Should be set for life on 12V for as long as those batteries last.

No OSH stores in midwest or I'd try the right angle drill.

I went for a drive this afternoon to a store about 30 minutes away and pickup up 2 more battery's, the circular saw, a right angle impact (for my BIL) for $53 and then display regular 1/4'' impact with battery for $10. This stuff is clearing out quick.

Maybe for you guys who don't have OSH, Sears told me before that they would price match competitors for exact items. Might be worth looking into.

I really like the Nextec line, those are SCREAMING good deals.

Guess there will be a lot of Nextec tools on ebay soon.

I have the right angle driver (paid $70 for it a year and a half ago!). I wouldn't have bought if I had known nextec was being abandoned, but it's a nice tool to have around. Especially nice for small spaces.

There has been speculation that Sears was discontinuing the Nextec line of tools for about 5 years now, but the tools are still available.

As far as I know Craftsman tools is a separate entity from Sears and Craftsman tools were/are available from other retailers (such as OSH and Ace Hardware).

OSH was (briefly) owned by Sears before they went into Chapter 11 bankruptcy and were bought out by Lowes.

It's guessing on my part, but the fact that OSH is clearing out the Nextec line may have more to do with OSH having been acquired by Lowes than with the Nextec line being "abandoned."

^ I agree, only OSH isn't clearancing any of their other Craftsman stock, and they stock a lot of it! The Nextec line seems to be the only one they are targeting. The C3 line and everything else Craftsman looks to be alive and well on OSH's shelves! Personally, I have yet to see the word clearance on any of OSH's Nextec adds and sale tags. Just the word "sale", so we may just all be assuming they are clearancing the line. I think it is pretty fair to assume they are though! :dunno:

Picking up on Sid's price matching tip, I printed out the OSH battery web page and dropped by my local Sears to see if they'd match the OSH price. Had to get a manager's approval because of the steep discount, but they did it!

Four more batteries (all they had) for $6.24 ea! Now I have (almost) enough batteries to power all the tools I bought....

Thanks Sid.

Very cool!

I would love to try that myself, but not sure I want to go to all the drama to get my store to price match on that deep of a discount. I can't even get my stores to match their own online pricing anymore! I have 8 batteries now anyway, but could always use backups for the future!

Same here none in Fl. I would like to have the rotary tool impact driver and a few batteries and charger. Wish craftsman would come out with a 3/8 ratchet in the nextec line. I would be all over it.

Yeah, most of the items on sale were "bare" tools. Of the two OSHs I hit they had exactly one battery on the shelf. I actually bought the right angle impact driver kit just for the battery - at $24.99 the driver, charger and battery kit was $5 less than Sears' retail price for the battery alone!

Since batteries are "consumables," I was a little concerned about price and availability. With the four I picked up at Sears I now have 10. I'll use 6 in rotation and hold the 4 new ones in reserve for when the ones in rotation start to **** out. Hopefully, they won't die sitting on the shelf....

Any idea how long the shelf life is on the batteries if they're not used? Do they go bad just setting on the shelf?

I'm not an authority on it, but it seems that I read somewhere that if the batteries are left to fully discharge for a long period of time, they are easier to charge back to full life. I'm not sure if that applies to just NiCad or Lithium or both? An example is my old 14.4 volt Craftsman drill and flashlight combo set with NiCads from the mid 90's. The batteries finally wouldn't charge and the charger flashed that the batteries were defective. Since new batteries were no longer available, I put the drill set in storage and replaced with the C3 line. Last summer after all these years I ran across the set out in the shed and decided to try charging the batteries. To my surprise, they charged right up! Not sure how long the charge would hold since I didn't try using the drill on anything, but was still surprised that the batteries charged.

We all thought Nextec was dying and then just last year they brought out the heated jackets, although that was likely just a holiday thing to boost sales. Sears has never been afraid of pushing "new" stuff for Christmas, Father's Day, etc

Also used Twisted Sid's sears price matching tip. Thank you! The clerk who range me up said OSH is the retailer they price match the most.

I stopped by Sears to pick up an online order on my way home from work today. Already pretty sure of the outcome, I told myself "what the hell" and decided to try my hand at the battery price match for myself.

Sure they price match, but first the manager tells the clerk to call OSH to make sure they have it in stock. The manager tells me that OSH can advertise any price they want, but if they don't have it, then the price match won't be honored. After calling two of my local stores, I told them not to waste any more of their time calling the rest and I left. I knew none of the OSH's had them, but thought I'd play along for a while. Damn! Sears had five batteries on the shelf and I was prepared to buy them all!

For long term storage lithium ion batteries are best kept at 75% you don't want them at a full charge or barley charged. If a lion discharges too much the protection circuitry will kick in and kill the pack

I assume that is how you find them sitting on the store shelf - I know they don't ship them fully charged. So, just leave them as they come from the store...?

Haven't had any lithium batteries fail on me yet, but not sure of the best way to store them. Don't really have any way of determining if they are at 75% charge.

I don't know about Nextec but all Milwaukee batteries come with 2 of 4 bars, so that would suggest Milwaukee thinks half charge is best. Or the bars aren't that accurate and they're taking it closer to 75% as mentioned here but not quite enough to trip that 3rd bar.

That's a bunch of ****. If OSH had them in stock, then why wouldn't you have gone there and bought them instead of trying to get sears to match? I would have had a few words for that manager when he said that.
