Anyone know now to disassemble a Craftsman Nextec 12V Drill/Driver? My drill only lights the LED light and does not turn with a fully charged battery. I've tried 3 different batteries, and changing the high/low, forward/reverse switches. The drill motor does not engage.

I've pulled all the screws out (4 in the front & about 8 on the side) and the metal clip near the battery plate but I still can't get the thing apart. Is there some clip or something that I'm missing? I figure the front chuck needs to come off before the body can be opened but I'm not sure how it slides out.

Thoughts?

There should be a screw inside the chuck which can be removed if you turn the screw clockwise (usually secured with loctite). The chuck can be removed if you turn it counterclockwise.

If it has labels stuck on it anywhere there are probably screws under them. Companies these days love hiding them under labels so they can tell at a glance if you have taken the item apart and voided the warranty!

The ones I really hate are the things with plastic casings that are ultrasonically welded together. Absolutely no way to get them apart without destroying the outer case! NiCd battery packs for portable electronics are frequently done this way. All I want to do is replace the one bad cell and salvage the pack but cant without destroying it!
