Wondered about that too- and I really like the drill, but not the soft case it came with!

Yeah, the batteries all look the same. I tried a nextec battery in a menards impact that was on closeout, the battery fit in the charger, but the tool is contoured differently and won't let the battery seat fully. looks to be the same with the milwaukee stuff.

I think they're closer to Ryobi but with different batteries. They share internals through most of the line. TTI is the OEM.
