I have a shot at a Craftsman/Parks 18" bandsaw in decent shape for its age. Question, is $500 a reasonable price?
Thanks

Am currently in the process of restoring one. It's an older version with the single speed.

A nicely restored version like yours is shown at http://vintagemachinery.org/photoindex/detail.aspx?id=31539

Photos of additional Craftsman / Parks bandsaws can be found on the vintagemachinery.org site by going to the "Photo Index" and then the pulldown "Index by Manufacturer". These models show up under "Sears | Craftsman".

Owners manual for Parks 18 Inch Wood & Metal Cutting Band Saw (i.e. 2 speed) is at http://vintagemachinery.org/pubs/618/23779.pdf

Hope that this helps.

The saw was delivered last week and I'm waiting for my son to come back for Easter break to help me wrestle it onto a mobile base.
When the gentleman dropped it off he put a box of stuff on the workbench. i'm having trouble identifying one of them.........

Does anyone know what this is?
Thanks.

When I have done ones for others, I just used graph paper, and just rubbed the side of a pencil along the raised lettering. The letters are darkened with the pencil, and the light areas are the recessed part. If you could also measure the overall piece, and the depth of the lettering, that would also help. Once that is done, a scan would be great, or just drop it in an envelope and I can measure off the tracing (happy to send a couple bucks for shipping).

Happy to help.
It might take me about a week. I'm trying to finish up a big painting project before the end of the month. When I get the trace, I'll let you know and you can send me your address.

That's for pushing stock through the saw. Looks like the saw has/had auto feed.. would have been an arrangement of weights/chains/pulleys.. the chains would interface with the gear looking deals on the tool and cables would go forward and off the back of the table providing a crude power feed.. essentially pulling the work through the saw. Doall has a similar setup.. that feeder may actually be a Doall. Nice to have.. they are not cheap. Put some ball handles on it for using manually.

I wouldn't worry about the feed stuff. It's a bit Rube Goldberg.

Just put some hand friendly handles on that stock pusher.. they work great.

When Doall actually has them in stock they are like 300 bucks.

Yeah that’s for the power feed option it pulls the part into the saw. I was s as Machinist 25 years we never used that. Too easy to mess up if your forcing it in there too fast.
