Craftsman Pedestal Jointer-Vintage

I recently came across a vintage Craftsman Pedestal Jointer........ It looks to be a 6" Triple blade unit.

I'm interested to learn if any of you Garage Tool Guys/Gals have had any experience with this unit. It appears to be intact & functional....:shocking but I'm pleased with the find.

Would appreciate any input relative to the restoration, use & care of this unit. Doesn't look like I'll get an operators or parts manual with it, so any info would be much appreciated.

It's a little hard to tell if we have experience with it, if we can't see it or know which model it is. A picture would be a big help in giving you any advice.

^ That said, manuals are readily available online for most of these machines, you just need to know the model number. There are a lot of these machines around. Post a picture, someone will have one.

Is this the 2-column pedestal stand? That is the one that came with the 6" jointers.

Good jointer. Weak spot is the fence-to-table end bracket, which is made out of zamac type metal. On mine, that piece was cracked and was also missing mid-fence sheet metal support/lock. Without that lock, the entire weight of the cast iron fence rests squarely on that zamac piece. With some skill, it might be possible to fabricate a barstock/aluminum end piece that would be stronger.

The jointer on the pedestal base can be a little tipsy. Other than those issues, a good jointer!
