In the past month I've managed to pick up two Craftsman tools on pedestals. A bandsaw (113.24261) and a belt/disc sander (113.22541)both in good shape. I have a small shop so they need to be mobile. I've considered the standard mobile bases but thought putting casters under the base might work as well. Does anyone have experience adding casters and if so, how large?

Thanks.

I recently acquired a Craftsman bench grinder on an original Craftsman stand (4 legs top to bottom - not the single pole type) and tried to decide how to make it mobile. I thought about the casters but all 4 would need to be lockable. Seems that 3 to 4 inch lockable wheels were about $10+ each so I decided on a HTC-2000 Mobile Base instead.

Woot was selling it for $44.99 (free shipping with Prime) but are now sold out.

I laminate two pieces of 3/4” plywood with glue and a couple screws for alignment. After it dries I put a OG edge on top with router. Paint, and put screw on castors on the bottom with brakes. I really do not move the tools much so it works. I figure I might find better way in the future, so I keep the money in the machines.
