I was using one of my #2 Phillips sockets and managed to cam the bit end pretty good. Is it possible to replace the bits in these sockets? And if so where do I find the replacement parts? It’s old Made In USA Craftsmen, so I’d just as soon not replace it if I can help it. Thanks.

Sears will replace it. Go to a store if you can find one or email them. Just went through this in December. By the time I drove to the store and had to wait I could have just went to Home Depot on the corner and it would have been cheaper. Probably won’t be usa made though

Punch the bit out from the drive end. Tap new bit in with a block of wood and hammer or use a vise to press it in. Can buy any bit you want on Amazon.

I have done this quite a few times, sometimes the Chinese bit from a new Craftsman is a direct fit.
Many other brands are very close/ exact to the Craftsman. Easco,KD,Allen, some Kobalt,,NAPA Ect.
Cripe in Boise,ID is a good place to look for these other brands that are nearly identical.

I've found throwing the bit in the freezer for an hour or so and heating the socket up pretty good will help it get a solid hold also.
