Well, I have no need for a planer, but couldn’t pass on this. Of particular interest is this Champion motor, which works pretty well. I will restore t the best of my abilities. Can anyone decipher a date code from the badge?

Well, I have no need for a _____, but couldn’t pass on this.
Taking the liberty to modify your statement, this is pretty much a common motto around here!

Your planer is mid-40's if you didn't know it. I don't know how to determine the exact year. I've been on a mid-40's Craftsman tear myself of late...

I picked up a 103.23150 jig saw, photos here, last week. GE motor.

And a 109.0703 lathe, photos here, the week before that. No motor.

Good luck with the planer, whatever you decide to do with it.

That’s Cool! The Missus says she wants a vintage Planer next, for whatever her new idea de jour is for the home improvement thing... like it.

Nutz- thanks for the info. I’ll bet the motor was manufactured in the 40s. There is a stamp alluding to 1941. I apologize for the tiny pics.

Oh yea Still- that planer weighs about 50lbs, motor closer to 70. Make sure you bring a buddy if you find one...
