Does anyone have one of these power hacksaws? I found this at the local Restore Store. This doesn't look like the original stand?

Restore stores are awesome. I never see tools for sale at the one near me, but it's a great place to find parts and materials for cheap.

Nice save! How much did it cost you?

Vintage machinery. org has several listed, and a quick search here on GJ will show up at least one...

http://www.google.com/search?q=craftsman+power+hacksaw has several youtube videos.

The first 3 digits of the model number are code for who the manufacturer was. then you should be able to find out a lot on the OWWM and OMWM sites.

Many Craftsman (and others) came without motors or stands. For some tools, the stands are worth WAY more than the tools. That said, if there was a stand especially for your saw, it is probably available out there.

I know of several threads on Practical Machinist where people have sung praises of their power hacksaws (although the smaller hobbyist stuff is generally banned there.)

If this is your first, welcome to the addictive and seductive world of old iron.

(I have 3 reStores in the Houston area. There are almost never any tools. When there are, they are priced as if they were gold plated.)

GOOD SCORE! by the way.

And yes, I have one: it's and early Covel "Excel". Still in "project mode", mostly until I can make some space for it...
